Research Associate - Diagnostics
General Fluidics is looking for motivated people to join our growing team. General Fluidics is an in-vitro diagnostics company that has developed a novel end-to-end, fully integrated modular IVD platform for performing a growing array of blood and urine tests. The Axess platform uses a patented hybrid hardware architecture, fluidics, and optoelectronic technologies to go beyond test results to deliver complete diagnostic information sets at the point of care.
We are seeking a highly creative, and broadly skilled Research Associate to join a fast-growing team to play a key role in developing our next generation platform. You will play a key role in test and integration of our new products.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work with scientists and engineers to develop and test prototype fluid handling platforms with advanced sensor technologies to improve hardware and assay performance.
- Independently design and perform experiments using technical equipment and instrumentation toward development of novel instruments and products for human and veterinary medicine.
- Complete statistical data analysis and report results using computer tools and software.
- Author experimental protocols, standard operating procedures and R&D reports.
- Perform quality assurance through control protocols, instrument calibration and proficiency testing.
- Maintain equipment in proper working order and maintain a clean work area.
- Practice safe work habits complying with safety, health, and environmental rules and regulations.
- Work safely with human and veterinary specimens under health and environmental regulations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or advanced degree in biology, biomedical engineering, clinical laboratory science or related fields (e.g., chemistry, immunology).
- ≥2 years commercial, hospital or academic laboratory experience for bachelor's degree.
- Experience independently designing and performing experiments, developing test protocols/procedures, and creating detailed reports with data processing and statistical analysis.
- Experience with pipetting, basic chemistry formulations, pipetting, biosafety cabinets.
- Experience with clinical instrumentation (e.g., flow cytometry, hematology, clinical chemistry) preferred.
- Exposure to quality control protocols and instrument calibration.
- Ability to work under minimal supervision with high degree of technical competence and organizational attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills, verbal and written.
- Competency with clinical (human) laboratory practices (e.g., GLP, CLIA, CAP), fundamental health principles and clinical interpretation of test values preferred. Veterinary experience a plus.
- Concise communication of scientific concepts, data analysis, clinical interpretation and reporting.
- Desire to learn and develop new technologies in a biotech R&D start-up.
