Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Design and develop electrical systems for various projects
  • Independently work on lighting layouts with minimal guidance and assist with riser diagrams/single-line diagrams.
  • Conduct thorough assessments of client needs, including their vision, goals, resources, schedule, and budget.
  • Collaborate with the project team to create detailed designs
  • Able to work under the direction of Senior Engineers to complete electrical systems designs.
  • Participate in the evaluation and implementation of the latest technologies and materials to enhance project outcomes.
  • Support the construction administration phase by reviewing submittals (RFI responses, sketches, PCO review, site visits, punch lists, field reports, etc.).
  • Contribute to long-term building management by providing expertise and recommendations for ongoing maintenance and system upgrades.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
  • 1-5 years of experience in electrical engineering, preferably in the MEP/FP industry or related sectors.
  • FE or EIT certification is optional but beneficial.
  • Proficiency in Revit and AGi32
  • Strong understanding of sustainable design principles and energy-efficient systems.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Initiative and intellectual curiosity are highly valued.
  • A portfolio of similar or related projects is helpful but not critical to a candidate's success.
  • Must be local to Charlottesville, VA, or within commuting distance to the Charlottesville office.
