Newtown, United States Newtown Veterinary Hospital, LLC Full time

Unicorn employer

Exceptional people first culture

Work-life balance prioritized

The Newtown Veterinary Hospital, an independently owned and operated, small animal hospital is rebuilding our leadership team in order to help us revolutionize the delivery of the highest level of care, efficiently and effectively without loosing the high touch identity we have so carefully crafted. You will join the hospital owner, medical director, chief of staff and 2 other managers both pursuing their CVPM as part of a leadership team who is gearing up to face the challenges of the current staffing crisis in veterinary medicine head on and help lead the profession into the future. We will continue our people first/patient first culture while elevating the role of our CVTs and compensating them for their professional expertise. We will be creating career paths within clinical practice that will allow every staff member opportunities for continual growth and development without having to leave the profession.

Responsibilities

You will lead our team of veterinary assistants and CVTs (currently 3 CVTs, 1 almost exam eligible highly trained assistant, 8 assistants enrolled in online CVT program and 2+ assistants new to the industry) and contribute to the development of systems that will lead to training protocols that will allow us to provide the highest level of care, in the same way, every patient visit, every day, no matter who happens to show up for work. You will work the floor as needed but will always be focused on training/teaching and improving said systems and protocols. You will be a cheer leader, coach, mentor, team member and leader. You will have a direct impact on practice culture and our overall success. You will provide ongoing feedback on performance and periodic performance reviews. You will be responsible for scheduling to maximize efficiency and match caseload. You will develop systems that ensure breaks are provided without negatively impacting workflow. You will have a direct impact on the future of our practice locally and the veterinary profession more broadly.

Qualifications

Licensed CVT in Pennsylvania or license eligible, experienced in small animal clinical practice, surgery and team leadership, effective at team building, feedback, skill development, verbal and written communication. The individual we are seeking should be someone who will be a confident decision maker while understanding the humility in accepting input from others and the need for continual learning. You should understand that putting your patient first sometimes means checking your ego at the door and that we can provide better care together than any one of us could provide alone. You should view questions from subordinates as an opportunity to educate or to double check your plan. You should firmly believe that the path to the top is best achieved by lifting those around us rather than stepping on or over them. You should be prepared to always offer the highest level of care but, when necessary, support the offering of a spectrum of care with empathy and without judgement.

The ideal candidate is confident, humble, calm under pressure, respectful, empathetic, empowering, a problem solver willing to think outside the box with strong communications skills, leadership and teamwork who believes that they can help lead our profession through the current crisis and into the future. An excellent sense of humor would be a major bonus.
