Responsibilities:
- Scientist – in-vitro disease modeling Genome Sciences department is looking for a motivated scientist to lead the identification and validation of new genetic targets for various cardiometabolic diseases including Type 2 Diabetes (T2D), Obesity, Atherosclerosis, Retinal diseases, and vascular diseases. This individual will play a pivotal role as a member of the discovery team, contributing to the development of innovative models for screening drug targets.
Job responsibilities:
- Establish stem cell-based in-vitro disease platforms.
- Design assays using high content imaging techniques to facilitate screening of small molecules and genetic modifications using CRISPR.
- Perform lab experiments, interpret data, and effectively communicate findings.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams in therapeutic and functional areas.
- Maintain electronic lab notebook and sample inventories.
Qualifications:
- BS with 5+ years of experience/Masters with 3+ years of experience/PHD with 1+ year of experience in a wet lab setting.
- Candidates with a background in muscle biology will be given preference.
Required experience and skills:
- Skilled in cell culturing and differentiation of stem cells into specific lineages.
- Experience with gene manipulation technologies such as CRISPR, siRNA, ASOs, lentivirus, and AAVs.
- Expertise in molecular biology techniques including RNA extraction, qPCR, ELISA/MSD, and ICC.
- Critical thinking with an ability to formulate experimental strategies.
- Effective in working independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
NOTE:
Position is in Cambridge, MA. This is a lab based onsite role. Candidates must be flexible and able to accommodate the change.
