The IT Field Desktop Support Engineer is responsible for supporting multiple facilities technology needs while specializing in at least one area of expertise. Installs, configures, tests and troubleshoots servers, desktops, laptops, printers, routers, and network infrastructure equipment. Solves a variety of IT related issues while working on multiple projects.


  • Installs new PCs, printers, and network hardware.
  • Interfaces with facility staff, technical teams, consultants, and the Technology Support Center services group to provide customer satisfaction.
  • Documents issues that need to be addressed while performing upgrades.
  • Supervises new cabling installations and ensures adherence to standards.
  • Works directly with CoreCivic partnering agencies to establish process enhancements to increase overall efficiency within the current environments.
  • Uses strong communication and technical skills to address connectivity issues with the CoreCivic customer. Works closely with various FSC and facility departments to establish program and facility needs and documents potential issues and solutions found during facility visits.
  • Follows rules of conduct specified for working in facilities and maintains positive relationships with facility staff at all levels.
  • Manages problem and request tickets for assigned technology and ensures availability of supported technology.
  • Follows the CoreCivic program management methodology and works collaboratively with all team members.
  • Domestic U.S. travel is required.


Qualifications:

  • Graduate from an accredited college or university with an Associate’s degree in Computer Science or a related field is required.
  • Three years of experience supporting Microsoft Windows 10, 8 and 7 is required.
  • Experience supporting Microsoft Office Suite and technology hardware including laptops, desktops, printers and scanners is required.
  • Must be able to maintain and troubleshoot a network infrastructure.
  • Experience with configuration of Windows Server 2019, 2016 or 2012 is required.
  • MCSA, A+ and N+ certifications are preferred.
  • Additional related experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
  • Strong knowledge and experience with PC hardware and software technology is required.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously. Requires about 70% travel.
  • Minimum Age Requirement: Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • A valid driver's license is required.
