Our client, an entertainment company with an office in Glendale, is looking for an Assistant Manager, Licensing to join their Apparel Sportswear team for a 7 month contract to cover an employee leave of absence. This role will work Monday through Thursday onsite and Friday remote. You will be responsible for managing several sub-categories and the associated licensee base with the goal of meeting or exceeding predetermined revenue targets and growth objectives across a portfolio of brands.


Responsibilities:


  • Assist in defining and executing the business strategy for assigned categories
  • Drive strategic direction for categories assigned and assist in the strategic direction on categories not directly assigned
  • Maintain current knowledge of industry trends, competitors, business opportunities, threats and dynamics
  • Perform retail-shopping analysis
  • Manage licensee portfolio including contract onboarding, resolving issues, data management, approvals, submissions as well as day-to-day relationship with licensees
  • Provide management support in everyday responsibilities such as contract negotiations and amendment process, financial analysis, preparing presentations and other projects as necessary
  • Fiscal responsibility for assigned categories to assist in annual budget planning and quarterly revenue forecastin
  • Assist in building final forecast and present to internal management
  • Collaborate with the team to identify new business and revenue opportunities and strategize toward building incremental business as needed
  • Inform and guide licensees in the execution of all brand marketing initiatives to define and integrate licensees within wider brand and marketing plans
  • Work with Brand team to provide category/business input for strategic and brand planning
  • Set-up line reviews with licensees and Product Development team
  • Guide licensees to develop against key property priorities and cross company objectives
  • With Sales team define and plan product development for retailer exclusive products
  • Liaise with Product Development team to ensure timely approval of products
  • Prepare product presentations including product presentations both internal and external
  • Ensure licensee product lines reflect quality and brand/property objectives
  • Align with sales team on retail strategies that complement all segments of the brand
  • Provide all needed product and licensee information to the sales and marketing to support retail road shows and presentations
  • Build strong team-oriented relationships with other key business units including franchise teams, marketing and global partners
  • Liaise with Social and Sales Marketing team to define account promotional and marketing plans and ensure licensee participation
  • Partner with sales team on product assortment / retail planning / sales pitches where relevant


Required Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • 3-4 years of relevant work experience
  • Must have prior licensing experience
  • Experience in apparel is a plus with a strong understanding of fashion omni- channel retail
  • Strong understanding of licensees' production and creative capabilities/limitations
  • Strong understanding of brand and property positioning, retail business development function, retail distribution and the retail environment
  • Solid computer skills (Excel, Power Point, Word, Keynote)
  • Analytical/strategic thinker
  • Team player with strong interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills and ability to handle multiple tasks/assignments
  • Self-starter, motivated, proactive, dependable, flexible and able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication/presentation/influencing skills
