Purpose of the Role

The Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for construction projects, including material and labor costs, to support business development and project planning efforts. This position offers an exciting opportunity for individuals who are passionate about construction and have strong analytical and problem-solving skills.


Responsibilities

●     Project Review and Analysis: The Estimator will review project plans, specifications, and other documents to understand project requirements, scope of work, and potential challenges. They will analyze project drawings and specifications to identify materials, equipment, and labor requirements, assessing project complexity and risk factors.


●     Quantity Takeoff and Cost Estimation: The Estimator will perform quantity takeoffs and measurements from project drawings and specifications to quantify materials, equipment, and labor needed for construction. They will research material and equipment costs, subcontractor bids, and labor rates to develop accurate cost estimates for each project component. Utilizing estimating software and tools, they will perform cost calculations, generate cost breakdowns, and develop pricing proposals.


●     Bid Preparation and Submission:  In preparing bid packages, the Estimator will include cost estimates, proposals, and bid forms, ensuring they meet project requirements and submission deadlines. They will coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors to obtain pricing and quotes for materials, equipment, and services. Additionally, they will submit bids and proposals to clients and participate in bid openings and negotiations as needed.


●     Cost Analysis and Value Engineering: The Estimator will conduct cost analysis and value engineering reviews to identify cost-saving opportunities, alternative materials, and construction methods while maintaining project quality and specifications. They will collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to develop cost-effective solutions and recommendations for project optimization.



●     Documentation and Reporting: ​​Maintaining accurate and organized documentation of all cost estimates, bid proposals, and related correspondence is also a key responsibility. The Estimator will prepare reports and summaries of cost estimates, bid results, and project evaluations for management review and decision-making purposes.


Qualifications & Competencies:

●       Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Engineering, Architecture, or equivalent work experience.

●       1+ years of experience in construction estimating or related roles.

●       Strong analytical and mathematical skills, with the ability to perform detailed quantity takeoffs and cost calculations.

●       Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and construction estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, Tekla, or similar).

●       Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders.

●       Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and quality assurance.

Compensation
