As a Master Tailor with Blackbird Tailoring, you’ll be part of a dynamic team focused on craftsmanship, client satisfaction, and logistical excellence.


The Role:

As a Master Tailor, your primary responsibilities include:

  • Alterations & Tailoring: Execute garment alterations within specified timeframes, ensuring a perfect fit and finish.
  • Customer Interaction: Provide outstanding customer service during fittings, contributing to a memorable shopping experience.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with sales and support teams to enhance the overall client experience.
  • Shop Management: Maintain an organized, tidy workspace, and manage supplies efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Expertly fit, mark, alter, tailor, and press garments.
  • Greet and interact with clients positively and helpfully.
  • Ensure timely completion and delivery of all alterations.
  • Keep the tailor shop organized and communicate supply needs.

About You:

  • Experience: 8-10+ years of retail alterations experience.
  • Skills: Proficient in garment fitting, fabric knowledge, and men’s suiting techniques.
  • Communication: Excellent communication skills with clients, management, and team members.
  • Attention to Detail: High level of precision and quality in tailoring tasks.
  • Team Player: Desire to provide exceptional service in a fast-paced environment.
  • Physical Abilities: Ability to lift up to 25 lbs, stand, walk, and perform various physical tasks throughout the day.

Essential Skills:

  • Advanced sewing skills and machine operation (straight stitch, blind stitch, serger).
  • Custom tailoring and garment construction knowledge.
  • Excellent time management and organizational abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.

Technical Proficiencies:

  • Men’s Suits: Adjust sleeves, taper sides, shorten collars, and more.
  • Trousers & Denim: Hemming, waist adjustments, tapering legs.
  • Dresses & Shirts: Hemming, adjusting straps, altering waistbands.

Work Environment:

  • Regular standing, walking, sitting, and physical activities.
  • Must use visual acuity and manual dexterity to operate equipment.
  • Maintain a clean, orderly workspace.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Competitive hourly rate of $63.75
