Technical Director

Multi Image Group (MIG) is a leader in producing global and experiential live meetings and events, and is seeking applicants for a Technical Director position.


This detail-oriented Technical Director will work with a team of over 100 professionals in a world-class facility based in Boca Raton, Florida and will report directly to the Director of Technical Services. The Technical Director is responsible for implementing all technical elements of assigned projects. They must be knowledgeable with all assigned technical crew’s responsibilities and assist with engineering and troubleshooting on any given show.

Requirements:

  • Must adhere to all company procedures in regards to formats and processes during pre-show development (i.e. folder/file management, detailed information in project folders, renders, CADS, hotel info etc.)
  • Create detailed realistic budgets based on assigned projects, RFPs and set designs
  • Create or revise CAD layouts based on various needs/issues when they arise
  • Must account for all technical expenses such as crew travel, per diem, shipping, labor
  • Schedule and book all local labor when needed
  • Coordinate trucking deliveries and pick-up of equipment
  • Supervise load-in/load-out of all assigned projects
  • Supervise onsite crew time management and documentation

Qualifications:

  • Proficient in Excel both with MIG budgets and client supplied templates and comfortable working with linked cells and formulas
  • Full working knowledge of CAD program i.e. Vectorworks
  • Ability to give clear, concise direction rapidly, in a “live” event situation
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with management, crew, and clients
  • Comfortable with face-to-face client interaction
  • Proven team leadership ability
  • Effective on-site communication to assigned crew
  • Efficient time management skills and able to meet deadlines
  • Strong knowledge of technical equipment and functionality
  • Knowledgeable in creating a technical show flow based on client-supplied agenda
  • Knowledgeable in conducting site visits at contracted (or potential) venues
  • Must be willing to travel frequently throughout the US and abroad
  • Must be able to work long hours when required – which include evenings and weekends
