Description:

We are seeking a highly talented and motivated scientist to join our growing team and establish our in-house display technologies capabilities. As an expert in biologics drug discovery, you will be primarily responsible for identifying progressable hits from our bespoke AI designed antibody libraries using eukaryotic display technologies or high-throughput antibody generation and screening. You will have the opportunity to design the ideal lab environment to support your library screening workflows, including flow cytometry and robotics/automation. The data you generate will be used to train our state-of-the-art ML platform to design potent and drug-like antibodies.


As a senior lab member reporting directly to the Head of Discovery Biologics, you will help mentor and train more junior scientists. You will also have the opportunity to serve as a functional expert on our therapeutic Pipeline Project Teams, and develop your drug hunting skills and experience.

In order to execute on accountabilities, an on-premise working model is expected. Flexible working hours to promote a balance between productivity and wellness can be accommodated with manager approval.


Responsibilities:

  • Generation of synthetic antibody libraries from AI designed sequences
  • Selection of hits using mammalian display, yeast display, or other display technologies as appropriate, with opportunity to design and build the lab.
  • DNA sequence analysis, Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) preferred
  • Subcloning of hits into mammalian expression vectors
  • Expression and purification of antibody constructs in mammalian cell culture at micro, medium and large scale as appropriate
  • Use of liquid handlers and automation to express and purify antibodies in high-throughput manner
  • Binding assays based on FACS, flow cytometry and ELISA
  • Careful documentation and record-keeping of scientific results
  • Upload of data to databases and LIMS systems
  • Curation of data for ingestion and utilization by ML scientists
  • Mentoring and training of junior scientists


About You:

  • PhD/postdoc in Protein Engineering or Protein Chemistry and 4+ years industry experience in biologics discovery and protein science OR MSc and 6+ years experience
  • Proven track record in biologics hit discovery, affinity maturation and lead optimization
  • Excellent protein engineering skills and display technologies
  • Experience using various flow cytometry/FACS instruments for screening antibody libraries
  • Familiarity with liquid handling systems and high-throughput screening systems
  • Committed to digital workflows and the lab of the future
  • Ability to work efficiently in a close-knit team and deliver high quality, reproducible data in a fast-paced environment
