Position Overview:

The Small School Districts' Association (SSDA) is seeking a dynamic and experienced individual that is passionate about K-14 Education to join our SSDA team as the Director of Programs.  This position will play a crucial role in designing, enhancing and implementing innovative SSDA programs, including member events, conferences and the Annual Convention.  


Key Responsibilities:

1. Program Development and Management:

  • Innovate Program Design: Design, develop, enhance and manage high-impact programs, events and professional development that address the specific needs and interests of member small school districts, enhancing their operational and educational outcomes.
  • Design, develop, and implement a series of live streamed events, including the coordination, planning, enhancement, and implementation of regular Superintendent, Chief Business Officer, Executive Assistant and Associate Member Zoom roundtables.
  • Event Coordination: Coordinate and oversee a diverse array of events, conferences, workshops, webinars, and other educational programs, ensuring they are well-organized and highly valuable to participants.
  • Continuous Improvement: Regularly evaluate the effectiveness of programs and make data-driven recommendations for improvements, ensuring they remain relevant and impactful.


3. Communication and Outreach:

  • Strategic Communication Plans: In partnership with the communications team, develop comprehensive and regular communications about SSDA programs to members, including newsletters, updates, and alerts, ensuring timely and relevant information flow.
  • Representation at Events: Act as an official representative of SSDA at conferences, meetings, and other public events, effectively communicating the association's mission and initiatives.


4. Collaboration and Networking:

  • Align with Organizational Goals: Work closely with the Executive Director and other SSDA staff to align program initiatives with the overall organizational goals, ensuring coherence and strategic direction.
  • Foster Partnerships: Actively foster and manage partnerships with other organizations, agencies, and stakeholders, expanding the reach and impact of SSDA programs.


5. Administration and Reporting:

  • Maintain Accurate Records: Ensure accurate and up-to-date records of program activities, supporting transparency and accountability.
  • Prepare Reports: Prepare detailed reports and presentations for the Executive Director and Board of Directors, providing insights and recommendations based on data and trends.
  • Financial Management: Assist with budget preparation and financial management related to program activities, ensuring efficient use of resources and alignment with financial goals.
  • Association Management Software: Manage and optimize the use of our Association Management Software, WildApricot, to streamline program administration, ensuring efficient and effective operations.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time by the Executive Director.


Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Public Administration, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in program development, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in an Executive Leadership position 
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Strong understanding of the needs and challenges of small school districts.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in using association management software, Microsoft Office Suite, and social media platforms.
  • Willingness to travel as required.
