About the Role:

Take2 is hiring a Principal Cloud Engineer to work in a SME role. This is a Hybrid role only requiring 1 - 2 days onsite. Take2 is working on maintaining and enhancing the Department of Transportation's current cloud systems. Take2 is seeking a principal cloud engineer that has extensive hands-on experience with deploying and configuring workloads within AWS, Azure, or Both. Who is also highly motivated and interested in making a difference in the current modernization and enhancement efforts for the DOT's current cloud systems.


Requirements:

  • Must have a minimum of 10 years of related experience managing cloud environments, possessing extensive skills and knowledge in cloud service provider selection, implementation techniques, application data migration techniques and tools for the most efficient solution to meet business needs, including present and future capacity requirements.
  • Possess at least 1 Professional or Specialty certification from a cloud provider.
  • In addition to the duties required of a Cloud Engineer Sr, a Cloud Engineer SME will provide technical, managerial, and administrative direction for problem definition, analysis, requirements development and implementation for complex to extremely complex systems within cloud infrastructure.
  • Troubleshoots cloud performance issues.
  • Analyzes network traffic and provides capacity planning solutions.


Qualifications:

  • 12+ years' experience in information technology with 10+ years of recent hands-on experience deploying/configuring workloads within AWS OR Azure
  • Experience designing and implementing cloud architectures
  • Extensive experience using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) including CloudFormation and Terraform
  • Good understanding of DevOps best practices and experience working with DevOps tools such as GitHub, Jenkins, SonarQube, and Artifactory
  • Hands-on experience managing Kubernetes clusters
  • Strong experience troubleshooting enterprise computing and operating systems such as Linux and Windows
  • Experience documenting requirements, user stories, and use cases
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic, and team environment
  • Professional Architect Certification in AWS OR Azure


Required Skills:

  • Producing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) or Configuration as Code (CaC), delivering solutions with a code first approach with sufficient comments and structure
  • Collaborating with engineering and development teams to evaluate and identify optimal cloud solutions
  • Diagnosing and resolving complex performance, security, and/or technical challenges
  • Supporting all tiers of applications deployed in the cloud, configuring network, cloud native services, infrastructure, and privileges for development teams
  • Identifying opportunities for optimizing cloud consumption by the agency and providing strategic direction for addressing those opportunities
  • Creating/updating cloud environment configurations to establish/support application workloads, including:
  • Azure Focused: Configuration of Subscriptions, Resource Groups, VNets, Subnets, load balancers, App Services, Azure Batch, Virtual Machines, resource tagging, billing, policy implementation, and security controls
  • AWS Focused: Configuration of AWS Accounts, IAM Users and Roles, VPCs, subnets, load balancers, Network routes, Transit Gateway, Control Tower, Systems Manager, Config Manager, stack sets, WAF, CloudFront, and Route53
