Job Summary:

The Human Resource Manager oversees the administration, coordination, and evaluation of the human resource functions. The Human Resource Manager is responsible for maintaining and enhancing the company’s human resources by planning, implementing, and evaluating employee relations and human resources policies, programs, and practices.


Essential Functions:

1. Develops and administers various human resource plans and procedures for the company as directed by senior management.


2. Plans, organizes, and controls all activities of the Human Resources Department. Participates in developing and evaluating department staff, goals, objectives, and systems.


3. Administers payroll: Ensures compliance with IRS and Department of Revenue regulations; maintains employee records; conducts regular journal entries and account reconciliations.


4. Administers employee benefits programs: Works with third party consultants to study and assess benefit needs and trends; obtains and evaluates benefit contract bids as needed; recommends benefit programs and third-party consultants to senior management; designs and conducts educational seminars for employees on benefit programs; directs the processing of enrollment, termination, and benefit claims.


5. Maintains insurance policies for the company: Works with senior management to procure annual insurance policies for general liability, professional liability, property, auto, and workers compensation; conducts quarterly billing activities; processes claims; participates in insurance audits.


6. Administers the performance management program: Maintains the compensation system; creates performance evaluation forms and programs as directed by senior management; provides coaching to managers and supervisors on employee development, counseling, and discipline.


7. Conducts employee recruitment efforts: Writes job descriptions and places job advertisements; works with supervisors to screen and interview candidates; conducts reference checks; extends job offers; conducts new employee orientations; handles employee relations; conducts exit interviews.

8. Works closely with company legal counsel on all personnel matters and issues. Helps legal counsel: prepare and update employee handbooks and employment-related policies and procedures; ensure compliance with all federal, state and local employment laws; conduct investigations; maintain records; when requested by legal counsel, represent the company at hearings.


9. Establishes and maintains Human Resource Department records and reports. Participates in administrative staff meetings. Maintains company organizational charts and employee directory.


10. Maintains professional and technical knowledge and attends human resource seminars and workshops.


11. Other Duties: Performs other duties from time to time as assigned by senior management. Job duties may change at any time with or without notice.


Skills and Qualifications:

1. A Bachelor’s Degree and at least eight years of human resource experience, with at least three years of human resource management or senior administrative level experience.


2. Proficient knowledge and use of Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel. Proficient knowledge of software systems used for payroll and benefits administration.


3. Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM) Certified Professional or SHRM Senior Certified Professional credential preferred.


Work Environment and Physical Demands:

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment.


The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift or move office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds.


Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time exempt position. Days and hours worked are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. This position may occasionally require longer work hours and weekend work.


This position reports to senior management officers.


Travel:

Travel, if needed, is primarily during the business day, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be happened
