Experience:
  • Previous experience in Human Resources is highly valued, particularly in recruitment, employee relations, compliance, and talent acquisition.
  • Familiarity with HR systems, managing employee records, conducting interviews, and addressing employee concerns is essential.
  • Experience with compliance-related tasks (such as background checks, certifications, and legalities) is crucial for navigating the nuanced regulations that govern cannabis businesses.
  • Experience in cannabis compliance or other highly regulated environments will set you apart, especially in understanding industry-specific policies and managing hiring processes while maintaining compliance.


Knowledge:
  • Knowledge of cannabis-specific regulations (state and federal employment laws, background checks, medical marijuana certifications, and age restrictions) is essential for ensuring compliance when onboarding employees and maintaining company policies.
  • Understanding how state laws (medical or recreational marijuana) impact employment eligibility and drug testing policies is critical for implementing HR procedures that align with industry regulations, reducing risk and ensuring legal compliance.
  • Familiarity with HR software platforms, such as JazzHR, is important for managing candidate pipelines, posting jobs, screening resumes, scheduling interviews, and tracking candidate progress efficiently.
  • Experience with HRIS (Human Resource Information Systems) or payroll systems is a plus, as it helps streamline HR tasks and supports smooth recruitment processes.

  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, are crucial for building trust with candidates and employees from diverse backgrounds. Whether conducting outreach, interviews, or explaining policies, your ability to communicate clearly and respectfully will make a significant impact in maintaining positive relationships and promoting a diverse, inclusive workplace.
  • Professionalism, empathy, and cultural sensitivity are essential when interacting with candidates and employees from varying backgrounds, especially within the cannabis industry.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, you can efficiently track candidate applications, manage schedules, and ensure compliance with industry regulations. Your ability to multitask and manage time effectively will help you stay on top of HR duties, from conducting interviews to maintaining employee records.
  • A positive attitude and solutions-focused mindset will help you thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, ensuring productivity and fostering a collaborative work atmosphere.


What you'll do:
  • Recruitment & Outreach: Source, screen, and communicate with candidates for a variety of cannabis industry roles using JazzHR and other platforms.
  • Maintain Correspondence: Manage candidate communication, ensuring timely updates and information sharing throughout the hiring process.
  • Interview Scheduling: Coordinate and schedule interviews with candidates, working closely with hiring managers to ensure smooth logistics.
  • Onboarding Support: Assist in the onboarding process for new hires, ensuring all compliance documents and industry-specific certifications are collected.
  • Compliance & Record-Keeping: Ensure all HR processes comply with local and state cannabis laws, maintaining accurate records in the HR system.
