Position: Vice President of Operations
Reports To: Chief Executive Officer
Position Summary:
The Vice President of Operations will play a critical role in defining and implementing operations strategy, structure, and processes to ensure the safe and efficient production of products with quality and service second to none. This leadership role involves managing inside sales and account management, supply chain, engineering, and multiple manufacturing facilities.
You will instill an “All hands-on deck” approach with employees and lead a culture of continuous improvement and 100% Customer First. You will interact with employees at all levels of the organization in a culture of accountability that values velocity, transparency, and the free exchange of information and ideas.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Lead the Operations Team which consist of a team of department leaders in Inside Sales and Account Management, Supply Chain, Engineering, and Manufacturing, ensuring that they meet both departmental and Company goals and objectives
· Coordinate the activities of Operations Team by managing schedules, documentation, and communication
- Coach, inspire, and develop the Operations Team leaders to maximize the Company’s success and well-being while guiding individual growth and development
- Plan department staffing levels (skillsets, increases, decreases) to meet current and future business needs
- Recruit, onboard, and train additional leaders and departmental staff as business needs dictate
- Conduct performance evaluations, personal improvement plans, and disciplinary actions in a timely and constructive fashion
· Perform additional supervisory duties as requested and needed by the business
Key Responsibilities:
· Lead the Operations Team to a safer work environment, higher throughput, and fewer mistakes
· Gain a working knowledge and hands-on appreciation of the Operations Departments
o Inside Sales and Account Management – quoting, project management, customer management, data analysis, and software goals
o Supply Chain – purchasing, inventory, receiving, shipping, warehousing, IT, and facilities
o Engineering – engineering, drafting, and continuous improvement of the Company’s products
o Manufacturing – efficiently manufacturing the Company’s products to meet our customer’s schedules while providing a safe working environment
· Develop and implement operational strategies to drive efficiency, productivity, profitability, and consistency across all areas of responsibility
· Collaborate with executive leadership to set operational goals, KPIs, and performance metrics.
· Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational processes and reduce costs.
· Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning for operational departments.
· Ensure effective cost control measures are in place and adhered to
· Lead quoting and pricing structure, ensuring competitive and profitable pricing strategies
· Provide strong leadership and direction to operations teams, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement
· Identify and develop high-potential employees, ensuring effective succession planning and talent development
· Implement training programs to enhance the skills and capabilities of the operations workforce.
· Ensure exceptional customer service by maintaining high standards of product quality and delivery performance
· Collaborate with sales and account management teams to understand customer needs and develop tailored solutions
· Address and resolve customer issues and concerns promptly and effectively
· Perform other duties and take on additional responsibilities as requested
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Hands-on, team-oriented, energetic, and dynamic leader who regularly interacts with other managers and office employees
· Proven leadership capabilities with a track record of building and managing high-performing teams
· Focus on execution and delivering results
· Strong understanding, practical experience, and demonstrated success with manufacturing processes, including Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, 5S, and additional manufacturing methods and process improvement methodologies
· Proficiency in using ERP systems and other relevant software applications to manage operations and supply chain activities
· Knowledge and practical application of quoting and pricing strategies, with the ability to develop competitive and profitable pricing models
· Ability to read and interpret architectural-like and mechanical-detail-like CAD drawings – prior design experience with CAD software a plus
· Strong ability to develop and implement operational strategies that drive efficiency, productivity, and profitability
· Experience in fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement within operational teams
· Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a strong focus on data-driven decision-making.
· Ability to quickly identify issues, evaluate options, and implement effective solutions to optimize operational performance
· Solid understanding and experience with financial management principles and P&L responsibility, including budgeting, forecasting, and cost control
· Proven track record of negotiating with suppliers, vendors, and customers to achieve optimal outcomes
Education and Experience:
· Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations Management, or a related field
· Master’s degree or MBA preferred
· Minimum of 15 years of experience in operations management within a manufacturing industry including leading multi-site manufacturing operations
Language, Physical, and Travel Requirements:
· Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact effectively with various stakeholders from the board room and executive leadership to the factory team, as well as customers and suppliers
· Excellent proficiency in spoken and written English is required
· Proficiency in spoken Spanish is highly desirable
· Extended periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
· Occasionally lifting weights of up to 50 pounds
· Extended periods of standing and performing repetitive movements
· Willingness and ability to travel by air and car several times per year to Company facilities, customers, suppliers, and events; approximately 30% travel required and as needed
· Located in daily commutable proximity to our Corporate Headquarters and Manufacturing Center in Medley, Florida
