The Medical Director of Clinical Informatics to assist in the leadership, development and implementation of technology solutions, with a focus on clinical tools. This position reports directly to the Chief Healthcare Information Officer (CHIO), and will be the primary liaison to clinicians, caregivers, and providers to ensure their input and feedback on system tools and performance is incorporated into Monument Health's core IT strategies. Will have significant interaction with IT Application Teams to provide insight, direction, and decision-making related to technology solutions, processes, and workflow. This position consists of 50% Medical Director duties and 50% clinical practice and is open to all specialties.

Essential Functions

  • Assist the CHIOO in the oversight, implementation, and optimization of advanced clinical information systems.
  • Engage providers and caregivers to contribute to the ongoing development, enhancement, and use of Epic, Monument Health's electronic health record (EHR).
  • Lead relevant IT Advisory and Governance Committees and participate in applicable health system committees and groups.
  • Assist in the identification and reform of policies and practices as it relates to workflows which are redesigned as a result of tools available in the EHR.
  • Act as a champion for identified projects.
  • Design, adapt, and lead effective training for caregivers and physicians.
  • Maintain positive relationships with physicians throughout the health system, including independent physicians and those with access from off-site locations.
  • Identify and champion additional opportunities for cost savings, new business opportunities, and technology solutions to solve real business problems.
  • Evaluate and lead vendor assessments and selection.
  • Be a champion for data and analytics across the organization, especially in clinical care areas and with physician leadership.

Requirements

  • Must have or obtain an unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of South Dakota and/or any other state as required by Monument Health.
  • Must have a current unlimited DEA registration.
  • Must have or obtain a South Dakota Controlled Substances Registration.
  • Must obtain medical staff membership with clinic privileges in the physician's specialty as necessary for the physician's practice.
  • Board certification or board eligibility as required by Monument Health.
