Recruitment Diversity Lead: Internship Programs
SUMMARY: The person in this position is responsible for full cycle recruitment of interns for Environment for the America’s (EFTA) Diversity Internship programs, as well as developing and implementing plans to expand our outreach to professional organizations, Tribal Colleges, Hispanic Serving Institutions, and Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) in the United States. This person will collaborate with a small team to develop and implement recruiting plans and tactics. They will build relationships across a number of campuses and organizations to aid in the development of EFTA’s talent pipeline. This position plays a key role in attracting diverse talent and candidates to our organization and the organizations that we serve.
Environment for the Americas (EFTA) is a non-profit organization located in Boulder, Colorado. EFTA works to connect diverse people to conservation through education, outreach, and research. Our internship programs are an important example of how we accomplish this goal. We work with underrepresented youth across the country and federal and non-governmental agencies to provide internship opportunities. These intensive experiences introduce participants to important job skills and provide opportunities to work side-by-side with biologists, educators, researchers, historians, and other professionals at national parks, wildlife refuges, and other natural areas across the country.
Recruitment at Colleges, Universities, and Diversity Serving Organizations
- Maintain and improve an effective college recruitment program by working with college staff and other partners.
- Build and maintain deep, sustainable relationships with select key universities, professors, administration, and student organizations.
- Coordinate efforts including organizing on-campus information sessions, career fair participation, and outreach events.
- With support from communications, prepare and maintain marketing materials and promote Environment for the Americas utilizing social media platforms.
- Develop and implement our virtual career fair sessions.
- Organize recruiter notes and candidate resumes to establish a shared candidate pipeline across Environment for the Americas’ internship programs.
- Conduct first screening of applicants to determine the most qualified for internship positions.
- Assist with applicant interviews to screen candidates.
Outreach to BIPOC Students and Early Career Professionals:
- In alignment with our DEI strategy, develop and implement plans and tactics to attract interns to our programs.
- Coordinate efforts including career fair participation and outreach events with diverse organizations and at colleges and universities.
Process Improvements:
- In collaboration with internal stakeholders, evaluate the effectiveness of centralized elements of processes, develop improvement plans, and coordinate implementation of improvements.
- Monitor, track, and analyze metrics and success of recruitment and diversity outreach efforts. Make data-informed decisions and recommendations to internship program leads.
Additional Notes:
- This role focuses exclusively on the more challenging positions, specifically in rural national parks where finding DEIA candidates is more difficult. You would be working on around 7-8 such positions. Therefore, this role is ideal for someone who loves conducting research, connecting and communicating, and building relationships with diverse universities and DEI communities.
- EFTA is looking for someone who is interested in learning about our internship programs, fostering university relationships, and presenting to universities.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Superior analytical skills, attention to detail, organization, and follow-through.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Flexible working style and willingness to occasionally modify personal schedule for urgent requests.
- Proven ability to deliver results.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate within a team and build and maintain effective interpersonal relationships.
- Proven understanding of and support for company culture and values.
- Experience working with HBCUs, Tribal Colleges, and Hispanic-Serving Institutions.
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with full cycle recruiting.
- Experience with a focus on recruiting from diverse organizations, including colleges, businesses, and diversity serving organizations.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to maintain a database of connections, experience with Salesforce helpful.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications:
- Valid driver’s license, ability to drive rental cars, and ability to travel.
Compensation: $60,000+ depending on experience. We are open to defining it for a part-time position for the right candidate.
Work Authorization/Security Clearance (if applicable): Employee must be authorized to work in the United States and must possess a valid driver’s license.
