Ursus Books in New York City is looking for someone to join our team. The job would primarily be in the Art Book department, but there would be some crossover with the Rare Book department as well. This is an in person, full time position.
Responsibilities
Designing and laying out all catalogues and email lists using inDesign.
Answering phones, assisting customers both through email and in person.
General responsibility for making sure the shop is tidy, books are shelved, cardboard is recycled.
Working at twice yearly in book and prints fairs at the Park Avenue Armory (two weekends per year)
Packing and receiving books for shipment.
Placing orders for in print books.
Qualifications
Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop and InDesign.
Knowledge and familiarity with the modern and contemporary art market.
Art History and or/ book dealing background will be given preference.
(Art books are heavy and the job requires the ability to move 50 pound boxes of books.)
Start date July 09, 2024
