Voracious, an imprint of Little, Brown, is a premiere destination for authors with visually rich, high-quality books. We aim to connect readers with what they love most, and publish a range of nonfiction with an emphasis on food and drink, art, design, and pop culture.
We seek a creative and entrepreneurial Editorial Assistant with a passion for engaging with visually-driven books to provide editorial and administrative support to the imprint, reporting to the VP/Publisher and the Executive Editor. This position is based in our New York office on a two-day per week hybrid schedule.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Communicate with authors, agents, and collaborators about all aspects of the publishing process, including queries, schedules, payments, etc.Read, report on, and draft responses to book proposals submitted for publicationHelp compile comparative title lists and profit & loss statements for projects under considerationPrepare contract requests and process paymentsTrack title schedules throughout publishing processWrite catalog, cover, and promotional copy; prepare title fact sheets and other selling materials; and manage title metadataAssist in editing acquired manuscripts Create and manage art logs, and manage digital assets from delivery through production and publicationTraffic projects through Production, Copyediting, Art, Legal, Publicity, Marketing, and other departments Perform general administrative duties, including preparation of print materials, mailings, drafting correspondence, and facilitating group communicationsCoordinate meeting schedules, manage agendas, and take notesAssist with other projects as needed
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES REQUIRED:
1+ year of publishing experience preferred (internships okay) or other editorial work experience
Excellent organizational, administrative, and interpersonal skillsExceptional written and polished verbal communication skillsSelf-starter with ability to attend to details and juggle multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environmentSolid computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Powerpoint, plus Google Docs and SheetsPassion for visual books a mustProficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign and Photoshop) a plus

The compensation range for this position is $47,500. Salary can vary based on a number of factors including skills, experience, and location — talk with your recruiter to learn more. There may be times that you will be required (or requested) to work overtime due to the nature of your role or exceptional workload issues or special projects.
