Position Overview:
The Director of Development will be responsible for leading all aspects of the organization's fundraising strategy. This includes cultivating and maintaining relationships with major donors, corporate sponsors, and other key stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in securing significant funding, developing innovative fundraising strategies, and building strong partnerships.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Fundraising Leadership:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy aligned with the organization's goals and objectives.
- Lead the planning and execution of fundraising campaigns, events, and initiatives.
- Identify and pursue new revenue streams, including grants, major gifts, and corporate sponsorships.
2. Donor Relations:
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with existing donors, ensuring regular and meaningful engagement.
- Develop and implement strategies to identify, solicit, and steward new major donors.
- Oversee the creation of tailored proposals and communications for prospective donors.
3. Partnership Development:
- Identify and establish strategic partnerships with corporations, foundations, and other entities that align with the organization's mission.
- Negotiate and manage partnership agreements, ensuring mutual benefit and long-term sustainability.
- Collaborate with internal teams to leverage partnerships for maximum impact.
4. Leadership and Team Management:
- Lead and mentor the development team, providing guidance and support to ensure the achievement of fundraising goals.
- Foster a collaborative and results-oriented work environment.
- Monitor and report on fundraising performance, adjusting strategies as necessary to achieve targets.
5. Budget Management:
- Develop and manage the annual fundraising budget, ensuring efficient use of resources.
- Provide regular financial reports to the executive team and board of directors.
6. Compliance and Ethics:
- Ensure all fundraising activities comply with relevant legal and ethical standards.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all donor interactions and contributions.
Qualifications:
-Experience: A minimum of 15 years of experience in development, fundraising, and partnerships, with a proven track record of securing significant funding.
-Skills: Strong leadership, strategic planning, and project management skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Knowledge: Deep understanding of fundraising best practices, donor stewardship, and partnership development.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Nonprofit Management, Business, Communications, or a related field. A master's degree or CFRE certification is a plus.
