Job Description

The Sr. Director, Global Restaurant Network Transformation is charged with leading the next generation of McDonald’s network infrastructure and operations Reporting to the Vice President of Global Technology Infrastructure and Operations (GTIO), and working closely with the entire technology leadership team. This is a once-in-career opportunity to have a huge impact and be part of a very large-scale transformation. This is a critical role that will enable the company to achieve our bold goals over the next 3-5 years.

A successful candidate will have the ability to build and deploy McDonald’s next generation network, in close partnership with our cyber security team, and see that through to the evolution of products and services which are cost appropriate and value generating. They will also possess significant experience at deploying very large scale (>$200M), sophisticated technology solutions in a multi-national environment. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced technology leader to shape the transformation of our global network infrastructure and operations to the entire McDonalds environment

Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

  • Implement, and bring to life, our comprehensive Global Restaurant Network Transformation strategy aligned with the organization's vision, risk appetite, and regulatory requirements.
  • Leads the team for the overall transformation of the global network infrastructure including SD-WAN/Cloud Networking, SASE, and on-site network equipment ensuring a seamless and secure transition that enhances connectivity, performance, and security across all 35k+ restaurants.
  • Review and evaluate the effectiveness of program management processes and drive recommendations for improvement.
  • Be an enthusiast for our global infrastructure and operations strategies and an ambassador to our market partners in the execution of our strategy.
  • Provide strategic guidance and expertise on sophisticated networking and network security issues and lead critical decision-making processes to ensure the successful execution of our strategy.
  • Establish and maintain a program governance framework, partnering with our PMO team, to enable insight into the execution of our strategy and provide oversight and leadership to course-correct where vital.
  • Develop and lead the budget for our large-scale Global Restaurant Network Transformation program, partnering out our finance team, and ensuring optimal allocation of resources and cost efficiency.
  • Build, lead, develop and mentor a highly functional, technically advanced global networking program team that plans, builds, and evolves our global restaurant network in a very efficient manner. Naturally elevates others and creates a culture of belonging through engagement.
  • Drive education on the implementation and support of new network, service management, and end-user technologies and initiatives
  • Implement metrics and reporting mechanisms to supervise the performance, reliability, and security of the deployment of our new global network, providing regular updates to executive leadership.
  • Partners with cybersecurity teams to deploy and implement all critical network security management policies regarding SLA’s, agreements with security, disaster recovery, acceptable use, data retention and other specified areas.
  • Communicates and builds deep technical competence throughout the team and with a broad group of partners

Qualifications

  • Significant experience in network infrastructure management in a large multinational organization.
  • Experience building, inspiring and leading hard-working, globally diverse, large teams (>300) including a significant external supplier presence across multiple geographies.
  • Experience leading very large-scale transformation initiatives at a global, large corporation with large teams and significant budgets (200M+). Preferably, a large-scale network transformation.
  • A deep understanding of SD-WAN, SASE, network orchestration and network security.
  • Demonstrable experience negotiating and partnering with best-in-class industry providers and vendors (Systems Integrators, Strategic Consultants, Providers such as Cisco, Crible, Palo Alto, Aruba, Fortinet, Juniper, Accenture, Deloitte, etc.).
  • Experience and or understanding of the McDonald’s business model, including solid understanding of our segments, markets, market priorities, and operating models preferred.
  • Proven track record in managing vendor relationships and negotiating large contracts to secure the best technology solutions and services.
  • Bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Infrastructure, or a related field preferred – commensurate with experience.

  • Strong financial leadership skills, with experience in budget planning, forecasting, and cost control.
  • Strong decision-making, creative and entrepreneurial critical thinking, sharp analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional relationship leadership skills and the ability to build and grow connections with people of all types and backgrounds from all over the world
