Overview:

The Finance Directory (FD) oversees financial activities to ensure it stays in strong financial standing. This includes oversight and management of the overall P&L, client performance, and all client financial reporting.


An ideal candidate would be highly focused to lead automated and scalable approaches that provide real-time financial data and insights to executive leadership in a consumable fashion. They act as a key partner to Account Management on successful achievement of revenue and profit goals for key clients in addition to supporting Department Leads to manage overhead forecasting and cost management for overall profitable agency results.



Key Tasks:


  • Review monthly P&L for accurate coding and trends to ensure accurate and complete monthly results; supports monthly dashboard analysis and commentary vs. budget/prior periods.
  • Partners with various business groups, including Accounting and Client Accounting, to continually enhance processes that further support financial insights.
  • Oversees and ensures the accuracy and timeliness of financial insights for the state of the business including client / department profitability and performance, staffing and utilization trends, and the identification of opportunities for optimization.
  • Create efficiencies and find ways to automate/scale processes and reports to further drive accuracy, repeatability, and timeliness.
  • Development of agency planning and monthly/quarterly forecasts and monitors expenditures vs. budget.
  • Is a primary client contact within Doner for finance. Actively leads and oversees key deliverables with support of the FP&A team including:
  • Maintaining real-time revenue projections. Partners with business to support pipeline opportunities, pricing/staff plan review, scope of work development support.
  • Review and distribution of profitability reports with business leads. Provides relatable and actionable insights on factors that can improve margin per line of business.
  • Understands clients & related contractual obligations. Supports client reporting requirements.
  • Fills a critical internal niche between Finance and Account Management; combines skills from both disciplines.
  • Becomes be the expert in the day-to-day processes to support the team and various departments to drive financial accuracy and timeliness.
  • Ensures Sarbanes Oxley and internal compliance and processes are followed.

FP&A Core Principals:

  • Impactful & Strategic: Provide key information for business partners to understand what has happened to help inform the path forward. Focuses on ensuring that information is accurate and easy to understand by the audience.
  • Nimble & Thoughtful: Always focusing on optimizing our processes for real-time and meaningful data that is easily scalable. Works to ensure key KPI data is captured throughout the process cycle to ensure data integrity at the outset. Understands that meeting deadlines impacts other teams and key tasks.
  • Accurate & Focused: Starting each task with a goal helps to better improve focus on the tasks and validate our outputs will properly support the goal. We conclude by recapping what the data impacts (SSP, revenue quantification, staffing decisions, cost management) and communicate or action accordingly.


Competencies:

  • Minimum 7 to 10 years experience in a finance or accounting role. Advertising agency and media experience strongly preferred.
  • Solid knowledge of financial analysis and forecasting
  • An analytic mind with a strategic ability; leverages emerging technology to support modeling and insights
  • In-depth knowledge of corporate finance and accounting principles and best practices
  • Experience with Maconomy and OneStream preferred but not required.
  • Experience with ASC 606 preferred.
  • Experience with MS Office; with high proficiency in MS Excel.
  • Proactive, reliable, responsible, accurate with an attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated and solution-oriented with a positive and professional approach to management.
  • Ability to makes decisions, prioritize, and resolve problems quickly and effectively.
  • Ability to communicate effectively to all levels of staff.
  • Able to meet deadlines and handle pressure in a fast-paced environment.
