Adams & Martin Group is partnering with a local law firm to identify a Labor & Employment Attorney to join their legal team. The ideal candidate will have substantial experience in labor law, with a focus on representing labor unions and their members. This role involves providing legal advice, representation in disputes, and support in negotiations and collective bargaining processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Legal Representation: Represent unions and their members in legal disputes, including grievances, arbitrations, and litigation related to labor law.
  • Negotiations: Assist in collective bargaining negotiations, including drafting and reviewing collective bargaining agreements (CBAs), and advising on contract interpretation and implementation.
  • Advisory Role: Provide legal advice to union leaders and members on labor law matters, including workplace rights, contract compliance, and union activities.
  • Dispute Resolution: Handle unfair labor practice charges, disputes before the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB), and other administrative agencies.
  • Training and Education: Conduct training sessions for union leaders and members on labor law topics, workers' rights, and best practices for union activities.
  • Policy Development: Assist in the development and implementation of union policies and strategies that comply with labor laws and enhance the effectiveness of union operations.
  • Legal Research: Stay current with developments in labor law and conduct legal research to support union initiatives and litigation strategies.
  • Advocacy: Advocate for union positions and members' rights in various forums, including legislative bodies, public hearings, and community events.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • License: Active membership and good standing with the state bar.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5+ years of experience in labor law, with a focus on representing unions and their members.
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of the National Labor Relations Act (NLRA), collective bargaining processes, and union rights and responsibilities.
  • Skills: Excellent negotiation, advocacy, and communication skills; strong analytical and research abilities; proficient in drafting legal documents and agreements.
  • Attributes: Committed to advancing workers' rights, detail-oriented, and capable of handling multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working directly with labor unions or in-house union legal departments.
  • Certification or specialization in labor law.
  • Experience in handling complex labor disputes and class-action lawsuits.
