1st shift 8AM – 5PM Monday - Friday

All positions may occasionally be required to support remotely on weekends

OT depends on if the testing is running on the weekend or not.

Job Description:

Role Summary

We are looking for high-performing development and validation engineers with engine, transmission, and drive unit experience. Responsibilities include planning, developing, and executing component and subsystem level tests in a world class testing and development facility. Tasks also include data analysis, calibration development, identifying opportunities for data reduction, and leading the migration of lab-based activities to math. This is an assignment where innovation, initiative and independent judgment are involved, and effective cross-organizational teamwork is crucial.

Key Responsibilities

• Follow development and validation hardware through readiness process - support setup and debugging to assure test readiness

• Track and report on testing progress and issues

• Develop and implement first-time capable tests for hardware development and validation

• Lead diagnosis and resolution of issues that occur during setup and testing

• Interact with facilities, technical leads, calibration teams, hardware release engineers, and others to improve process and test efficiency

• Utilize post processing tools to assure data quality and track usefulness of data in generation of final reports

• Implement standard work processes and procedures globally

• Support math-based activities, migrating additional work from Road and Lab to Math (RLM) based models and data analysis

• Train, mentor, and develop new engineers


Required Skills and Experience

* Minimum 2 years of experience in automotive engineering with engine, transmission, or drive unit knowledge

* Demonstrated drive for results

* Excellent planning and problem-solving skills

* High level of oral and written communication skills

* High level of interpersonal skills to work independently and effectively with others, and ability to establish peer relationships.

* Ability to prioritize work and resources, and work independently with minimal direction

* Proficient with computer and data acquisition systems

* Experience in data analysis to optimize testing or model results

* Experience in presenting results to leadership

* Ability to travel as required for offsite testing (less than 15%)


Preferred Skills and Experience

* Experience with AVL PUMA/IndiCom and ETAS INCA software

* Exposure to propulsion system calibration in test and vehicle environment

* 2-5 years of hands-on experience with engine, transmission, or drive unit testing, calibration, or hardware development

* Experience with engine dyno setup and testing


High level overview – they are responsible for running an engine in a variety of different test cells to test the engines. 20 or so different tests they call “standard work” that they would run for a particular engine. This is what they execute and are looking for help with this.

Arrive at work, first thing is to check on the status of their tests. Access the state of testing, confirm that the testing is going as planned and troubleshoot if it is not. Working as a team to keep that testing moving forward. Reporting out the status of their testing, what is going well and what is not. Document what they have done through test reports. Make sure the data is being collected correctly and analyze results.


Higher level role and they will be working in a variety of different areas in the lab. They will be doing all the testing tasks, engine development and validation. For example - Thermal testing, lube testing and components testing


Not focusing on fuel bench, broad and focused on different areas of the engine


They will be working with many other people throughout the day. Working with a couple other colleagues doing similar work, but also interacting with the technicians, lab engineers and people from the calibration team program team design release engineering. Very collaborative role. Must have good people skills.


Work environment - Laboratory Testing Facility, PPE requirements to be on site and access areas of the facility

The testing that this group does is going to be executed on the next design of engines, so they will be working on and testing a state of the art future engine designs for Client. Things they work on will be in the marketplace, can see vehicles on the road that you have contributed to.


Education and Training: one of the following is required

• BS in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Physics
