GENERAL SUMMARY


We are looking for someone to join our Leadership Team as the Director of Manufacturing. This position not only oversees the Production & Technical Design teams, but also manages the overseas Quality Assurance teams. The ideal candidate would have strong leadership skills, 15+ years of apparel import manufacturing experience; experience in private label production is a must; Walmart, Target, big-box retailer experience highly preferred. This position requires working with cross-functional leads including sourcing, product development, operations, compliance and sales. Overseas travel required.


Position reports into VP of Operations.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Managing Production, Quality Assurance, and Technical Design teams.
  • Enforce, refine and implement continuous improvement in manufacturing SOP.
  • Responsible for ensuring adherence to quality standards in all manufacturing including company and retailer specifications.
  • On-time delivery of all goods to achieve confirmed dates.
  • Work cross-functionally with Sourcing, Sales, and Operations teams for capacity planning, risk management, vendor negotiations, etc.
  • Collaborate with department heads on strategies to align company goals for margin, productivity and efficiency.
  • Oversee and lead overseas Quality Assurance team. Manage and create QA SOPs as needed.
  • Review and oversee all risk assessments, inspection, testing reports.
  • Own production and delivery related communication with retailer teams including QA, buyers and other teams as needed to effectively address any issues.
  • Manage and improve vendor and customer relationships.
  • Ability to own department specific reporting and utilize these tools to communicate, problem-solve, and involve cross functional team members as necessary.
  • Can-do attitude with the ability and drive to proactively foresee potential risks, problem solve, and elevate issues appropriately when necessary.
  • Participate in Leadership Team meetings to continually improve, strengthen, and move the business forward.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.


WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED


  • 15+ plus years in apparel manufacturing with 10+ years in a role managing a team; proven ability to own, lead and grow a diverse team including leading Sr. Management level team members.
  • Proven and effective communication and negotiation skills especially from a production management role; communicating needs and managing issues with overseas teams.
  • Experience working with overseas factories and a background working directly with apparel manufacturers; understanding of apparel production process and ability to communicate effectively with overseas teams including client factory and company QA teams.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as experience communicating appropriately and professionally with large retailers required.
  • Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook as well as ERP system proficiency a must.
