Job Duties:


Job Overview: We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Director of Data Center Services to lead our growing department. The successful candidate will be responsible for the overall P&L of our data center services, driving proposals, managing projects, and developing new business opportunities. This role requires a strategic thinker with a strong background in data center operations and management.


Key Responsibilities:

  • P&L Management: Oversee the profit and loss of the data center services department, ensuring financial targets are met.
  • Project Proposals: Lead the development of proposals and bids for new data center projects, focusing on consulting and implementation services including layout design, rack and stack, cabling, equipment commissioning, system upgrades, data migration, cooling, power systems, environmental monitoring, and operations and maintenance.
  • Sales Support: Collaborate with Sales and Business Development teams to highlight our capabilities, direct them to key contacts, and participate in customer meetings to explore new opportunities.
  • Project Management: Directly manage current and upcoming projects, train and mentor new project managers and team members as the department grows.
  • Team Leadership: Manage the distribution of assignments, serve as the point of escalation for issues, and oversee the performance, goals, and career progression of direct reports.
  • Hiring: Participate in the interview and selection process for new employees, contractors, and subcontractors.
  • Costing and Pricing: Work with the team to define the level of effort for new services, develop cost and pricing models, and review bids for leadership approval.
  • Proposal Development: Lead the development of solutions and proposal collateral in response to RFx and other opportunities.
  • Financial Monitoring: Oversee PO receipts, work order completions, and invoice submissions, and monitor department budgets and forecasts to identify issues and opportunities.
  • Cross-Department Coordination: Collaborate with other department managers to ensure process consistency, resolve common issues, and identify opportunities for organizational growth.
  • Industry Monitoring: Stay informed about industry trends and bring new opportunities to the attention of Sales and leadership teams.


Qualifications:

  • Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of the current data center landscape, including different types of data centers, industry trends, key players, and challenges.
  • Client Relationships: Proven ability to build and maintain strong client relationships within the data center industry.
  • Project Experience: Extensive experience in managing data center projects, with a deep understanding of infrastructure, white space equipment, data migration, and data security.
  • DCIM Knowledge: Strong knowledge of Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM); industry certifications are a plus.
  • Sales and Business Development: Hands-on experience in pre-sales support, developing solution presentations, and creating bids and proposals.
  • Financial Management: Demonstrated ability to manage programs with fixed-price projects exceeding $5M, ensuring profitable outcomes.
  • Experience: 10+ years in related roles, with at least 2 years in a Director or higher position.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Excellent interpersonal skills, energized by building relationships and engaging with others.
  • Problem-Solving: Highly resourceful with strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Proactivity: Proactive and initiative-taking, with strong follow-through.
  • Organizational Skills: Highly organized with excellent attention to detail.
  • Education: High School Diploma or GED required; AS/BS in Business Administration, Engineering, or related field preferred.
