Sr. Research Associate (12-Month Contract // Bridgewater, NJ)
The candidate will work with a multidisciplinary team of scientists and be engaged in the discovery, early development, and testing of novel pharmaceutical products to treat rare diseases.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop, troubleshoot and execute studies of new products in cell-based and other in vitro assays
- Isolate and culture primary cells or cell lines to support in vitro or ex vivo experiments
- Conduct assays to evaluate effects of products on cell responses using a variety of techniques (cellular and molecular biology, immunology, biochemistry, etc)
- Support in vivo studies, including formulation preparation and sample processing and analysis
- Prepare and maintain a constant supply of reagents, buffers and other materials to support in vitro assays
- Collaborate alongside a cross-functional team that includes immunologists, chemists, biologists to drive drug development
- Follow established protocols but also design new protocols
- Perform data and statistical analyses using Excel, GraphPad Prism and FlowJo
- Maintain accurate, detailed and timely records in electronic notebooks and generate internal technical reports as needed
- Summarize experimental results and present findings at internal meetings
- Ensure proper maintenance of laboratory equipment
QUALIFICATIONS
- A Master's degree in the field or biology, immunology or related scientific discipline with 1 year or more work experience, or a B.Sc with equivalent qualification with at least 2 years or more work experience in a related field in an academic and/or industry setting
- Hands-on experience with wide range of cell and molecular biology techniques to characterize in vitro and ex vivo systems that include (but are not limited to) mammalian cell culture, plate-based cell assays, western blotting, qPCR, flow cytometry and ELISA
- Proven experience in optimizing/developing cellular and molecular biology assays e.g. enzymatic or ELISA is required
- Experience working with immune cells and hematopoietic stem cells is a plus
- Experience working with cellular imaging-based instruments and fluorescence microscopy is a plus
- Experience in data processing, analysis, statistics, and data interpretation is required
- Detailed-oriented, meticulous, have sense of urgency, high level of motivation, and research-orientated are required qualities
- High degree of organization and time management is required.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, as well as a team spirit are required
- Demonstrates an insatiable curiosity, strong work ethic, has the eagerness to rise to challenges and ability to work equally well independently or in a team are key qualities
