Job Summary:

Manage and develop a Quality System to comply with customer requirements to include tracking quality issues, coordinating quality activities, monitoring, and improving quality levels, developing, and maintaining various product inspection activities and maintaining compliance with ISO9000.

Will be responsible for the design and development of intelligent systems and industrial systems control.


Requirements for the Position

• QE experience with an OEM will be strongly preferred.

• Strong root-cause Analysis skills and Critical Thinking skills

• Background in Metal Stamping Quality is a plus.

• Deadline and detail-oriented

• Solid negotiation skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

• Able to read basic and advanced part prints.

• Understanding of ANPQP system and requirements

• Read Basic Measuring Equipment


Responsibilities

• Create and improve automated systems and processes.

• Interpret CMM and Scan data.

• Process Improvement / Countermeasure

• PPAP (Production Part Approval Process)

• Inspection Reports

• Support the installation of both mechanical and controls upgrades.

• Document all technical procedures and user guides.

• Perform Gauge R&R (Repeatability and Reproducibility) Studies

• Control Plan

• PFMEA


Essential Job Functions

• Provide technical support and quality report to customer PQE/Process Engineer in timely manner to improve customer relationship and customer service.

• Work closely with cross functional teams to ensure that production assembly of the vehicle takes place with no loss or down time.

• Manage and develop Quality System to comply with customer requirements.

• Ensure that the workstation and operator have a standard process to deliver high quality AND the process has written REACTION PLANS to account for any concerns.

• Respond quality issue at both internal and external to satisfy customer needs.

• Track quality issues that leave the workstation, and department in order to establish a cut off AND that those issues do not leave the plant.

• Control, track, and maintain quality records /documentation.

• ISO9000 records, secure all documentation required by law to be held by the plant. (Most documents are scanned and stored electronically in a data base)

• Monitoring internal and external PPM to improve quality level and reduce customer complaints.

• Coordinate internal audit and corresponding corrective action for continuous improvement.

• Coordinate quality activity or engineering change with customer and other Topre facilities.

• Meet with cross functional teams- Material, Production, and Engineering in order to coordinate an engineering level change. The key is to always ensure that the operator knows that a change is coming and how it may or may not impact their current operator instructions.

• Support engineering/manufacturing to improve Poke Yoke (Error proof system) for tooling.

• Implement root cause analysis and countermeasure plans.

• Develop and maintain various product inspection activities including Checking fixture and gauge calibration, training inspection technicians, inspection data processing and management, sort/rework activity, inspection work instructions, etc.

• Take unannounced walks to a workstation and review the instructions while the operator is performing the task.

• Perform training to correct any abnormality, then hold the operator accountable.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Experience in the Automotive Tier 1 Supplier function

• Demonstrate understanding of PPAP activity and ANPQP

• Compliance with ISO9000

• Ability to demonstrate use of Six Sigma Quality Tools to logically determine root cause of quality concerns.

• Knowledge of 3D CAD and its application for product measurement


Education and Experience

• 2 Years Experience as a Quality Engineer or Quality Supervisor in a Manufacturing / Assembly environment preferred.

• 4 Year Engineering Degree in any Engineering Field or Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) Designation


Special requirements

Must have the ability to work during weekdays, weekends, and possible holidays. You could workday and / or night schedules based on productivity; and should be able to occasionally lift at least 50 lbs. Walking, Standing, Kneeling, Stooping 90% of the time is a large part of this position.
