Disclaimer: This position is contingent upon a contract award. Employment will commence only if the contract is awarded to Allied Universal Security Services. We anticipate hiring for these positions in Q4 2024 or Q1 2025, based on the contract award timeline.


If awarded, the Airport Training Coordinator is responsible for developing, implementing, managing, and tracking all training programs for security personnel assigned to an airport under the assigned Airport Authority on behalf of Allied Universal Security Services. This role ensures that all security staff receive initial and recurrent training, including training on baggage x-rays, personnel walkthroughs (magnetometers), handheld metal detectors, and vehicle screening procedures. The Training Coordinator reports to the Site Manager and may have responsibility for a specific shift, requiring flexible work hours.


Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop comprehensive training programs for security personnel, ensuring compliance with Federal Transportation Security Regulations and other relevant regulations
  • Conduct initial and recurrent training sessions for all security staff, including x-ray operators, checkpoint screeners, vehicle gate checkpoints, and overall checkpoint and screening operations
  • Manage and track all training activities, ensuring all personnel meet required training standards and maintain accurate training records (Digital and Physical).
  • Provide training for personnel across different shifts (1st, 2nd, 3rd), requiring flexibility in work hours to accommodate various schedules
  • Train security staff on operating baggage x-ray machines, personnel walkthroughs (magnetometers), handheld metal detectors, vehicle screening procedures using mirrors, and other equipment as specified in the contract
  • Train security staff on the use and operation of electronic reporting and monitoring software as it relates to their primary security functions
  • Provide Supervisor training and ensure all training programs comply with federal, state, and local regulations and contractual requirements
  • Assist with administrative tasks related to training programs, including scheduling, documentation, and reporting
  • Maintain a consistent on-site presence, working 40 hours per week, and be available for non-standard work hours based on training needs
  • Regularly review and update training programs to reflect changes in regulations, technology, and best practices
  • Assist in responding to and managing security incidents, providing additional training as necessary based on incident reviews
  • Conduct additional trainings as specified in the contract, which may include but are not limited to; CPR/First Aid/Automated External Defibrillator (AED) training, Defensive Tactics (e.g. handcuffs, pepper spray, batons, Tasers, firearms) training, Mobility Devices (e.g. vehicles, bicycle, golf cart, Segway) training, Fire Safety Services (emergency plans, occupants, floor wardens, staff presentations, and evacuation drills), and other value-added services, such as workplace violence/active shooter training


Qualifications (Must Have) :

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in security operations, preferably in aviation security
  • At least 1 years of experience focused on training
  • Experience in training personnel in airport or other secure/government facility environments
  • Familiarity with operating baggage x-ray machines, personnel walkthroughs (magnetometers), handheld metal detectors, and vehicle screening procedures.
  • Highly proficient in all Microsoft Office applications and able to effectively utilize multiple systems and applications
  • Comprehensive knowledge of security screening equipment and procedures.
  • Familiarity with adult learning principles and training methodologies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficient in using training management software and technology
  • Ability to develop and implement effective training programs
  • Ability to obtain Airport ID, local Guard Card/License and has a valid driver's license

Must possess one of the following:

  • Associate degree in business administration, Homeland Security, Criminal Justice, or a related field with a minimum of three (1) years of training experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent with a minimum of five (3) years of training experience


Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have) :

  • Law enforcement, military and/or contract or proprietary security services experience
  • Airport Certified Employee - Security (ACE) Certification Is highly desired or ability to obtain within 6 months of assignment.
  • Airport Security Coordinator (ASC) certification is preferred.
  • Experience working with Federal Transportation Security Regulations.
  • Specific experience with 49 CFR 1542 is a plus.
  • Familiarity with alarm monitoring systems and emergency response procedures
  • Knowledge of payroll procedures, hiring processes, and security system administration
  • Experience managing security operations in an airport environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle high-pressure situations and make quick decisions.
  • Advanced degrees or additional certifications in security management or related fields.
  • Proven track record of improving security processes and outcomes.
