Job Summary:

A2 Labs, LLC is seeking cybersecurity research engineer. This role offers the flexibility of working either onsite in Arlington, VA, or remotely, with periodic travel to Arlington required. The ideal candidate will have at least a master's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field and be familiar with existing Cybersecurity research for both offensive (e.g rapid7’s Metasploit) and defensive (e.g. rapid7’s Velociraptor) tools and strategies. Experience with machine learning and reinforcement learning is a plus. This is a dynamic role and will focus on the development of a hybrid simulation/emulation cybersecurity testbed among other active R&D projects at A2Labs.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team of experts in cybersecurity, machine learning and networking to enable reduction of reality gap in network model simulations.
  2. Be aware and follow the latest advancements in Cybersecurity attacks and defenses research and best practices.
  3. Understand and be able to work with n-day exploits assessment, requirements, and remediation in isolated testbed environments using virtualization technologies.
  4. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into actionable solutions.
  5. Communicate complex technical concepts and findings to non-technical stakeholders clearly.
  6. Engage in ongoing testbed research and participate in research publications and project reports.


Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field. Relevant certifications (e.g., CISSP, CEH, CISM) is a plus.
  • Proven experience in penetration testing and vulnerability & exploit chain analysis within a cybersecurity context.
  • Proven experience in cybersecurity research, network security, or systems engineering
  • Familiar with existing Cybersecurity tools including network telemetry, SEIMs, and IDS tool kits deployed operationally.
  • Strong understanding of security protocols, network architecture, and risk assessment methodologies.
  • Familiarity with programming languages (e.g., Python, Java, C++) and security tools (e.g., firewalls, intrusion detection systems).
  • Ability to work as part of a collaborative team
  • Experience with network and host level security on a variety of platforms (Windows, Linux, Mac, etc..) and services (Web, Auth, File sharing, etc..)
