What you will do as a Leave and Accommodation Specialist:

  • Serve as the subject matter expert for all leave programs under the general direction and guidance of the Benefits Manager.
  • Maintain complete and accurate records of leave and accommodation requests in accordance with specified legal requirements and documentation of best practices.
  • Work with our third-party leave administrator on the full life cycle of the leave request, including team members’ initial notice of the need for leave and return to work.
  • Facilitate and lead the interactive process for accommodation requests.
  • Act as the main point of contact for team member leave and accommodation requests.
  • Maintain effective communication with team members on leave to facilitate a smooth and timely return to work.
  • Advise managers and team members on the interaction of applicable leave laws with paid time off and applicable disability benefits.
  • Oversee the return-to-work process for team members returning from all leaves.
  • Serve as the organization representative to the third-party administrator (TPA) for accommodations managed by the TPA.
  • Maintain records in a standardized format in the human capital management (HCM) system.
  • Ensure confidentiality of sensitive information.


To be successful as a Leave and Accommodation Specialist, you'll need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 2-3 years previous leave and benefits experience.
  • Experience with multi-state benefits; preferred experience in states with paid family leave laws.
  • Experience handling a high volume of leave cases.
  • Experience with complex leave and accommodation cases preferred.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to manage conflicting deadlines.
  • A general understanding of payroll and accounting functions, specifically related to their interaction with benefits.
  • Experience using various HCM systems.
  • Proven relationship management skills to effectively partner with team members at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to occasionally travel and work non-traditional hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as business dictates.
