Responsibilities:

  • Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, including processing invoices, issuing payments, and reconciling vendor statements.
  • Prepare and post journal entries for month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Reconcile bank and credit card accounts on a regular basis.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
  • Support budgeting and forecasting processes by compiling financial data and assisting in the development of budget projections.
  • Assist with grant accounting, including tracking grant expenditures and preparing financial reports for grantors.
  • Ensure compliance with nonprofit accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with other departments to provide financial analysis and support for programmatic activities.
  • Assist with audits by providing necessary documentation and supporting schedules.
  • Participate in the implementation of financial systems and process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field preferred; CPA or progress towards CPA certification preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in accounting, preferably in a nonprofit or similar environment.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero) and Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with keen attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with team members and stakeholders at all levels.
