About the Opportunity:

Chelsea Piers seeks a Finance & Accounting Associate. In this role, you will provide critical support for our Finance Team. You will be responsible for assisting the Finance Director with delivering timely and accurate financial reporting and acting as a resource for General Managers and Sports Directors for all financial related matters. You will work in our Chelsea and Field House Brooklyn locations; days are subject to change.


As the Finance & Accounting Associate you will:

  • Coordinate and assist with month-end close process for our Chelsea and Brooklyn locations including, but not limited to preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, and maintaining accurate financial records
  • Prepare and review P&L statements to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data
  • Support the annual budget process for all locations, working closely with department heads
  • Code invoices, ensuring compliance with accounting policies and procedures
  • Review and submit weekly & bi-weekly payroll with appropriate department managers
  • Assist in filing and remitting sales tax for all locations
  • Manage club purchasing, vendor contracts, and inventory related to sports equipment and office supplies
  • Develop a thorough understanding of Field House Brooklyn’s operations, including our club management software, DaySmart
  • Update and distribute weekly dashboard reports
  • Implement and maintain internal control policies
  • Assist with ad-hoc financial analysis and special projects, as needed

This is not an exhaustive list of duties, and you will be expected to perform different tasks as necessitated by your supervisor, your changing role within the organization, and overall business objectives.


About You:

You are eager and willing to learn all facets of the accounting and finance operations of Chelsea Piers. You have a strong understanding of accrual accounting and GAAP and also have advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills. You will also have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or related field
  • 1+ years of FP&A experience
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong attention to detail with a focus on accuracy and timeliness
  • Ability to handle multiple projects, working both collaboratively and independently
  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience in NetSuite, NetSuite Planning & Budgeting, PowerBI a plus
  • Ability to utilize financial analysis, modeling and understand the key business drivers to identify opportunities to generate revenues, profits, and operational efficiencies, a plus
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and communicate financial and analytical data to business partners across all levels of the organization, a plus
  • Ability to travel to both locations (Chelsea and Prospect Heights, Brooklyn)
