We are seeking a Building Automation Systems Engineer specializing in HVAC and lighting. This role operates out of our Controls Shop, responsible for maintaining and managing building automation systems, including HVAC and Tridium/Niagara.


Main Objectives:

  • Develop controls system standards (Metasys, Lutron, FPi).
  • Develop project scopes for in-house controls projects.
  • Source bids and proposals.
  • Lead controls optimization projects.
  • Develop controls design standards for new construction.
  • Analyze existing systems and provide upgrade recommendations and roadmaps.
  • Procure control spare parts and maintain inventory.


Key Duties:

  • Fulfill the functional requirements of a System Engineer, Maintenance Manager/Technician, Maintenance Supervisor, Training Program Manager/Instructor, and Building Automation Systems Expert for changes, modifications, and upgrades to the Master Plan.
  • Assist Utilities and Facilities Managers in achieving department goals by maintaining campus building automation systems in optimal condition.
  • Plan, coordinate, and supervise designated Utility Operations and Facilities Maintenance personnel to monitor, operate, and maintain building automation systems.
  • Ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and federal, state, and local regulatory agency requirements in all building automation system monitoring, operations, and maintenance.
  • Promote a work environment that fosters excellence, professionalism, and teamwork at all levels.
  • Address problems, emergencies, and other issues affecting the building automation systems, and halt activities when undue risk to health, safety, or the environment is identified.
  • Train Utility System Operators and Facility Maintenance personnel on the proper monitoring, operation, and maintenance of the Metasys Building Automation System.
  • Maintain effective automation systems Energy Management and Conservation programs, including performance oversight and reporting.
  • Review designs and manage projects for building automation systems modifications, additions, and expansions.
