While our outpatient clinic cares primarily for children and adults in Brookline and neighboring communities, much of the Center’s work extends beyond Brookline and has a statewide, regional, and national impact.

POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting to the CEO, the Grants and Foundations Manager will play a significant contributing role in achieving the financial goals of the Brookline Center programs and its Innovation Institute. This position involves writing foundation grants and government grant proposals, managing relationships, researching potential funding sources, and contributing to concept development.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Collaborate closely with program and development staff colleagues to write and submit grant proposals to funders ensuring guidelines are met.
  • Prepare and submit all required reports to funders in partnership with program, development, and finance staff.
  • Negotiate terms and conditions for grants and agreements, such as costs, schedules, and compliance responsibilities.
  • Conduct research on potential funding sources using online and other resources.
  • Collaborate with the CEO, Chief Development Officer, and program leadership to develop concept ideas.
  • Cultivate and steward relationships with foundations, working alongside the CEO, CDO, and other Center leaders.
  • Work across staff and departments to achieve the strategic goals of the Center.
  • Develop and track outcome measurements for various grant-related activities in conjunction with Center leadership.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of foundation proposals, both electronically and in hard copy.
  • Track foundation activity and interactions.
  • Developing and implementing grant management policies, procedures, and resources in collaboration with the development and finance departments.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the CEO.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Minimum of five years of related experience, demonstrating success in foundation relations and/or grant writing.
  • Experience working with not for profit organizations, preferably within smaller organizations in the healthcare or mental health care environment.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Familiarity with fundraising software and donor database applications.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills to support and promote the mission of The Brookline Center.
  • Strong data analysis and project budgeting skills.
  • High level of integrity, diplomacy, and initiative.
  • Sound decision-making abilities and professional judgment.
  • Strong time management skills, prioritizing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Enjoys and works effectively in a culture of collaboration, ongoing change, commitment to racial equity, diversity and inclusion.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
  • Capacity to anticipate and analyze growth opportunities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Willingness to occasionally work evenings and weekends, and ability to travel to meetings by personal automobile.
