Eleven Recruiting is searching for a Senior Trade Compliance Specialist for one of our largest Aerospace Manufacturing companies sitting onsite in Long Beach CA. This role will be responsible for managing the export and import compliance program, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements. This role involves providing trade compliance oversight across various departments, implementing effective compliance controls, conducting training, and having the authority to verify and stop transactions to prevent violations.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Export/Import License Management:
  • Review and approve license or permit applications.
  • Ensure jurisdiction and product classifications are valid.
  • Advise senior management on trade compliance risks and aspects of business decisions.
  • Regulatory Analysis:
  • Maintain and interpret knowledge of export and import regulations.
  • Analyze and interpret regulatory changes.
  • Internal Controls:
  • Review and ensure trade compliance internal controls (procedures, work instructions, forms) are up-to-date.
  • Monitor compliance activities and internal control effectiveness.
  • Proactive Measures:
  • Work with departments to prevent trade disruptions.
  • Analyze transactions with potential risks and determine due diligence satisfaction.
  • Documentation and Auditing:
  • Prepare, review, and approve technology control plans and oversee technology transfers.
  • Transact records in trade compliance information systems.
  • Prepare and verify export shipping documentation for non-routine shipments.
  • Work with freight forwarders to ensure compliance adherence.
  • Conduct functional audits of trade compliance policies and procedures.
  • Provide periodic updates on the compliance program's effectiveness.


Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred or equivalent education and experience.
  • 7+ years of business experience; 3-5 years in export/import regulatory compliance.
  • Experience in aerospace manufacturing strongly preferred.
  • Experience with trade compliance information systems is a plus.
  • Familiarity with ITAR/EAR regulations, anti-boycott regulations, OFAC sanctions, customs regulations, and foreign trade regulations.
  • Understanding of export licensing, economic sanctions, arms embargoes, re-export, and retransfer requirements
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret contract
