Washington, United States Airlink, Inc. Full time

About Airlink and the Role

Airlink is a Washington, DC-based nonprofit humanitarian logistics organization that connects airlines with vetted nonprofits to deliver disaster responders and supplies to communities in crisis worldwide. In the last three years, Airlink has more than doubled its size and impact, ending 2023 with a team of 18 dedicated staff, who alongside countless donors, and partners, helped nearly 14 million people in 53 countries and provided over $11 million in value to our NGO partners.

Airlink shows no signs of slowing down, with a three-year strategic plan that calls for growing our team by 25%, increasing the value provided to our NGO partners to $60 million, and increasing our roster of NGO partners to 60 and Airline partners to 40. To that end, we are seeking a Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) Manager to execute Airlink's year-round training and partner engagement work to build a common understanding of the best practices in humanitarian aid and drive increased cross-sector collaboration among NGOs and airlines.

The MEL Manager will be pivotal in organizing in-person and online trainings, engaging with prospective and existing airlines to develop partnerships, and engaging in research on the needs of the sector to inform stakeholders and empower more in-kind and financial support for aid and relief efforts around the world.

The position will be part of a nine-person humanitarian programs department and will report to the Associate Director of Humanitarian Programs.. Due to the nature of Airlink’s mission in support of disaster response, there will be an occasional need to work extended hours or on weekends with limited advance notice.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Implement Airlink’s global training program that includes webinars, in-person trainings, and exploration of on-demand training opportunities.
  • Support program staff in the documentation and dissemination of post-training reports to capture collective actions and lessons learned
  • Coordinate with Airlink's communications team to promote collaborative learning activities, including trainings, webinars, case studies of successful and innovative partnerships, and research/white papers.
  • Design and implement an NGO onboarding and training program to ensure Airlink can screen prospective partners and accepted partners can optimally utilize Airlink’s services.
  • Implement Airlink’s monitoring and evaluation strategy in collaboration with program staff, including standardized capture of impact reporting and development of regular reports on Airlink’s projects, and coordinating with program and fundraising staff on M&E requirements and deliverables for grants (including USAID/BHA and foundations)
  • Support program staff in needs assessments, baseline studies, and endline studies during the scoping, implementation, and closure of emergency programs
  • Manage research projects, such as humanitarian and aviation industry studies and white papers on best practices in humanitarian logistics.
  • Periodically, represent Airlink at humanitarian events globally

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years working experience is required
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience is required
  • Unrestricted authorization to work in the United States is required
  • Experience developing reports for external audiences is required.
  • Experience in developing and administering training programs is required.
  • Experience in international humanitarian relief, particularly related to logistics, is strongly preferred
  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills, including the ability to interact and communicate effectively with both domestic and international audiences
  • Proven ability to create clear, concise, and culturally aware business correspondence
  • Thrive in a fast-paced environment requiring the management of multiple projects and activities simultaneously
  • Strong problem-solving abilities to navigate unexpected challenges
  • Willingness to travel within the U.S. and internationally (less than 10%)

Compensation & Benefits

The salary range for this position is $65,000 to $80,000. Additionally, Airlink provides a comprehensive benefits package including, but not limited to:

  • Cell phone with unlimited international service
  • EAP Program

Location

Airlink is headquartered in downtown Washington, D.C. and currently operates a hybrid work schedule with the team in-office three days a week.
