Hardware Test Design Engineer III


A leading Space industry client in San Diego is looking for an experienced Electrical Test Design Engineer III to join their dynamic project team. This position is centered on designing and developing new test architectures, as well as performing sustaining engineering tasks.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Review functional specifications, design documents, and project documentation at both device and system levels.
  • Participate in the evaluation of software product designs and code implementations.
  • Ensure that all developed test protocols are automated, meet testing standards, and are thoroughly documented.
  • Develop work estimates and provide status reports for each testing effort.
  • Lead and coordinate portions or entire testing projects, including the development and management of test plans, test schedules, and the reporting of test results.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering with a focus on software, or equivalent expertise in software engineering.
  • Strong background in test engineering with proven technical skills.
  • Expertise in configuring ATE components, including rack instrumentation and PXI architectures.
  • Extensive experience in developing test automation software using LabVIEW, LabWindows/CVI, Python, C#, and Visual Basic.
  • Proficiency in both Windows and Linux operating systems.
  • Hands-on experience with test tools and equipment, particularly advanced spectrum and vector network analyzers.
  • Strong documentation abilities, with experience in writing and executing test procedures.


Preferred Skills:

  • Familiarity with SolidWorks and foundational mechanical engineering concepts, especially in relation to bed-of-nail test fixtures design and construction.
  • Experience testing RF devices operating within the S, X, and Ka bands.
  • Exposure to optics and laser communication technologies.
