Director Of Regional Field Services

Reporting to the VP of Program, the Director of Regional Field Services is a full-time exempt position that will act as liaison and provide strategic leadership, direction, and support to local teams within our West Central and West regions (from Boyd/Hall/Webster counties to the western Nebraska border). This position will also utilize existing Special Olympics programs to create opportunities for individuals with intellectual disabilities through sports, health, education, leadership and advocacy.

This position works remotely from home and requires extensive travel within the West Central and West regions, as well as night and weekend hours. This position will also regularly visit our headquarters in Omaha as scheduled in conjunction with supervisor.

The ideal candidate will be professional, highly motivated and self-directed, and will have a strong background in sports, behavioral health, budgeting and program management.


Responsibilities

1. Sports - Organize Regional Competitions

  • Coordinate and host regional sports competitions; identify and collaborate with local venues to ensure quality competition.
  • Communicate effectively with delegations to ensure timely registration and accurate divisioning.
  • Record competition results post event using GMS database.
  • Cultivate Regional Management Teams.
  • Develop relationships with community leaders to promote Special Olympics programming.
  • Recruit and train “day of” volunteers for regional events, adhering to Special Olympic Nebraska policies, procedures, and expectations.
  • Represent Special Olympics Nebraska to the public as the regional chief spokesperson.
  • Attend state level competitions

2. Health & Education Programming

  • Cultivate relationships with other organizations, schools, families, etc. that may be serving persons with intellectual disabilities or whose services would enhance Special Olympics Nebraska.
  • Assist our Youth & Schools staff by implementing our Unified Champion Schools program in schools within your regions.
  • Assist our Health Program staff by promoting the Special Olympics Healthy Athletes initiatives in your Regions.
  • Serve as a resource and support local programs, coaches, delegation managers and all other SONE community members.
  • Represent the organization at business meetings and organization meetings by giving presentations and initiating new relationships.
  • Support program staff at state, local and school-based events.
  • Miscellaneous job duties as needed.

3. Development (Fundraising)

  • Raise money to support regional activities.
  • Assist with local and statewide fundraising events.
  • Ensure local implementation of appropriate/relevant national and local corporate fundraising opportunities, such as IREM, SpartanNash, Jersey Mike’s, Buffalo Wild Wings, and more.
  • Work with local Law Enforcement agencies to support all Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) events within your Regions.


Qualifications

  • BS/BA degree preferred.
  • 2-3 years’ experience with sports, fundraising, event planning, volunteer management and/or public relations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products including Excel and Outlook.
  • Experience with Smartsheet a plus
  • Knowledge of fundraising software a plus.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills and professional conduct.
  • Comfort with public speaking and presentation skills.
  • Experience with budget preparation and fiscal management.
  • Commitment and passion for working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and the Special Olympics mission.
  • Must have a car, valid driver’s license and meet state required automobile insurance minimums. Must be able to pass background check.
