Essential Areas of Responsibility

  • Research and Development: Research, develop, and prepare specifications for new products, processes, equipment, and technology.
  • Project Management: Manage projects by developing a project schedule and team, tracking costs, preparing status reports, conducting team meetings, and communicating issues and progress to management.
  • Capital Investment Requests: Prepare requests for capital investments, including project descriptions, schedules, and costs. This includes creating User Requirements Documents (URS), Basis of Design (BOD), Functional Specifications, qualification documents, and other project plan requirements.
  • Supervision: Supervise and direct contract personnel and outside vendors in the performance of contracted services.
  • Technical Decision Making: Provide direction and technical decision-making for management involving capital asset purchases and expenses for projects and/or strategic initiatives.
  • Reporting: Prepare and present technical investigative reports to senior-level management. Escalate issues affecting the project timeline, budget, or scope to appropriate leadership.
  • Interface Management: Maintain moderate to high degrees of internal and external personnel interfaces.
  • Quality Investigations: Perform and support process and product quality investigations, including the implementation of corrective actions (CAPAs).
  • Compliance: Ensure full compliance accountability of the Projects team as the team lead.
  • Metrics Reporting: Generate key metrics reports as required.
  • Cost/Capex Savings: Implement cost/capex savings initiatives embedded into the Project Management Process.


Core Essential Skill Set

  • Project Management for Pharmaceutical Facilities: Experience managing projects in a pharmaceutical environment, preferably involving solid oral dosage forms.
  • Educational Qualifications: Master’s degree in engineering.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years in the pharmaceutical environment, with experience in maintenance and projects focused on compliance, engineering, and project management.
  • Certifications: Project management certification is preferred.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in project management systems/processes and Microsoft Suite of Applications (Project, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).


Expertise: Knowledge and Skills

  • Analytical Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Writing Skills: Ability to write reports, business correspondence, procedure manuals, change controls, investigations, qualification documents, etc.
  • Presentation Skills: Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Team Collaboration: Ability to work in teams with cross-sectional functions as required.
  • Problem Solving: Works on assignments that are routine to semi-routine in nature where the ability to recognize deviation from accepted practice is required.
