Role Summary:
The Shift Engineer plays a crucial role in maintaining the operational efficiency and safety of all resort facilities during their assigned shift. This position requires a comprehensive understanding of maintenance practices across various systems, strong problem-solving abilities, and a commitment to guest service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Respond promptly to guest repair requests and communicate effectively to resolve issues.
  • Welcome and acknowledge guests according to established standards, anticipating their service needs.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance on tools and equipment, ensuring optimal functionality.
  • Troubleshoot and perform repairs on mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems, including pumps, motors, and HVAC units.
  • Manage maintenance of electrical systems, including replacing switches and outlets.
  • Utilize lockout/tagout procedures to ensure safety during maintenance activities.
  • Operate and manage shut-off valves for equipment and building facilities.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in work areas, including mechanical rooms.
  • Monitor inventory of maintenance supplies and requisition parts as necessary.
  • Facilitate effective communication across shifts regarding daily activities and issues.
  • Inspect and maintain tools and equipment regularly.
  • Utilize engineering software for preventive maintenance and energy management.
  • Collaborate with external contractors for repairs and improvements beyond routine maintenance.
  • Adjust building management systems to ensure efficiency and comfort.
  • Respond to emergencies promptly, following established procedures to minimize risks.
  • Adapt to additional responsibilities as needed to support departmental operations.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in luxury hotel or resort engineering maintenance.
  • Proficient knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, and mechanical equipment.
  • Certification in a technical trade is beneficial but not required.
  • Experience in luxury hotel environments and multilingual capabilities are advantageous.

Work Environment:

  • Role involves both indoor and outdoor work in varying weather conditions.
  • Exposure to noise, fumes, and hazardous materials, necessitating personal protective equipment.
