ROLE OVERVIEW
We are seeking a Laboratory Scientist passionate about making an impact on our planet, with expertise in enzyme engineering, developing analytical assays or biocatalytic process development. This role offers a unique opportunity to be a founding Scientist and scientific advisor, contributing to our groundbreaking work in enzyme development and application. Your contributions will be pivotal in shaping the future of our startup and its impact on the world.
Location: OnSite at Incubator space at Energy and Biosciences Institute at UC Berkeley
Key Responsibilities
- Design and conduct experiments in enzyme engineering and enzymology to develop and optimize enzyme assays.
- Develop and implement analytical assays to support enzyme characterization and application.
- Analyze and interpret experimental data, presenting findings to the team and stakeholders.
- Drive innovation and contribute to the strategic direction of our scientific endeavors.

Qualifications
- Ph.D. (with 0-2 years of experience) in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Chemical Engineering or a related field.
- Extensive experience in enzyme engineering and with a strong track record of developing and optimizing enzyme assays.
- Proficiency in analytical techniques and assay development. Experience with plate reader and HPLC based assays.
- A passion for environmental sustainability and a desire to contribute to planetary health.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced startup environment.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with a willingness to mentor and guide junior team members.
- (Nice to have) Experience with biocatalytic process development
