We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Assistant Director of Sales to join our team and contribute to our ongoing success.


Job Summary: As the Assistant Director of Sales, you play a pivotal role in supporting the Director of Sales in crafting and executing strategic plans to boost our market share and revenue. This position is ideal for a results-driven professional with excellent communication and negotiation skills, and a deep understanding of the dairy, perishable foods, or consumer goods sectors.


Key Responsibilities:


Sales Strategy & Planning

  • Collaborate in developing and implementing effective sales strategies aligned with company objectives.
  • Analyze market trends and consumer behaviors to identify growth opportunities and potential risks.
  • Assist in setting ambitious yet achievable sales targets, budgets, and forecasts.


Team Leadership

  • Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of sales professionals to exceed sales goals.
  • Provide continuous coaching and constructive feedback to enhance team performance.
  • Cultivate a positive and collaborative team environment that fosters success.


Customer Relationship Management

  • Build and nurture strong relationships with a diverse customer base, from local boutiques to major retail chains.
  • Develop and implement customer retention strategies to ensure long-term loyalty.
  • Promptly address and resolve customer inquiries and concerns to maintain high satisfaction levels.


Sales Operations

  • Monitor and report on sales performance, implementing improvements where necessary.
  • Optimize the use of CRM systems and sales tools for efficient tracking and management of sales activities.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including marketing and product development, to ensure cohesive and aligned sales efforts.


Market Development

  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities to expand our market presence.
  • Represent the company at industry events, trade shows, and conferences to promote our products and services.
  • Stay informed about industry developments and emerging trends to keep our strategies relevant and effective.


Product Knowledge & Training

  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of our product offerings.
  • Develop and conduct training programs to equip the sales team with the necessary skills and product knowledge.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field, OR equivalent relevant experience.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in sales in consumer goods, preferably dairy or similar industry, with one or more years supervisory experience.
  • Proven track record of achieving and exceeding sales targets.
  • Strong understanding of sales principles, practices, and customer relationship management.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to effectively and appropriately interact with each segment of the customer base- from the “mom and pop” bodega to the large retail chains.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret sales data and market trends.
  • Proficiency in CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to travel as needed.
