The role will be based in Washington, DC, with some expected travel, as needed. The team is open to a mix of onsite and remote work.


The position will require at least 10 years of related experience and the professional agility to navigate the complicated set of US compliance laws and regulations. In addition to helping managing trade compliance, the AGC will also work within the team to negotiate license and services agreements and advise on product development and business expansion.


This role will require agility, creativity, and resourcefulness to efficiently navigate the US Government’s intricate set of compliance laws and regulations.


DUTIES & EXPECTATIONS:

  • Assist in the development and implementation of compliance programs and procedures to ensure adherence to relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Ensure the effective optimization of products to market within the confines of US government regulations
  • Manage the regulatory requirements to develop, deploy and operate the company’s diverse and advanced products.
  • Assist in the strategy development for new business.
  • Manage relationships with Government regulatory agencies.
  • Negotiate license and services agreements.
  • Represent the legal team in relationships with outside counsel, vendors, engineers, executives, customers, and regulators.
  • Represent the company in regulatory inquiries, audits, and investigations, facilitating proper and timely responses to regulatory authorities.
  • Represent the compliance attorneys within the company to expand the team’s ability to provide timely advice and guidance across a variety of compliance issues.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • JD, Active CA or DC Bar
  • Experience working with the Department of Defense while in private practice is a huge plus
  • Ideally 3+ years of experience with export controls, including jurisdiction and classification analysis and license applications for both the EAR and ITAR (or UK or EU equivalents)
  • Experience with spectrum management laws and regulations (US, UK, or EU)
  • Previous experience with the full spectrum of cUAS, AI, and robotics regulatory issues is helpful
  • Ideally experience with aviation laws and regulations (US, UK, or EU)
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret and Special Access Program (SAP) security clearances
  • U.S. Person status is required because the role requires access to export-controlled information.
  • Willing and able to travel at least 15% of time
  • Combination of law-firm and in-house/government experience is ideal
