Senior Product Development Engineer

The Product Development Engineer II formulates and develops engineered thermoplastic compounds. This hands-on role involves formulation, process, lab work, and daily interactions with customers, vendors, Development Engineers, Technicians, Sales Engineers, Customer Service Representatives, and Managers. The focus is on Structural Products with an emphasis on Automotive Development and support.

Requirements

Skills and Abilities

  • Strong organizational skills and familiarity with experimental design and statistical analysis.
  • Practical approach to processing/manufacturing.
  • Ability to multi-task and work independently or as part of a team.
  • Excellent attention to detail and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of ITAF, VDA, and other automotive quality systems.
  • Attendance is essential.
  • Proficiency in English.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Plastics, Material Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience with 10-15 years in the field.
  • Experience with compounding filled and reinforced commodity resins for structural applications, especially in Automotive.
  • Proficiency with Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook; ability to learn new software.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

  • Frequent internal and external communication.
  • Regular use of phone, email, and office equipment.
  • Travel occasionally; ability to lift/move up to 25 lbs.
  • Work in office, lab, and production environments with varying noise levels.
  • Use of safety equipment as required.
