Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Senior Director of Development to join our unscripted production team at Range Media Partners. Your passion for ideation, innovation, collaboration and creative execution, as well as your industry insights and strategic vision, will be crucial in advancing our production goals.
Responsibilities
- Generate and develop ideas across a wide range of genres in unscripted content, including premium documentary, docusoap, format, and game.
- Oversee the development process from concept through pitch to presentation/pilot and beyond, collaborating with internal departments such as production, legal, and finance to ensure full and seamless execution of projects.
- Nurture relationships with internal and external partners, production companies, on and off-screen talent, and both domestic and international platforms/networks to source and collaborate on new development and production opportunities.
- Conduct market research and analysis to assess the commercial viability and audience potential of projects.
- Maintain a deep understanding of industry standards, regulatory guidelines, and legal requirements for unscripted content.
Required Experience
- At least 5 years of experience in content acquisition and development.
- Excellent writing and deck-creating skills.
- Strong sizzle-producing, casting, and research skills.
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively pitch ideas to networks and partners.
- Great team player, with a strong ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- Extensive knowledge of the unscripted television landscape, including current trends, popular formats, and emerging platforms.
- Strong network of industry relationships, including buyers.
- Some shooting and/or editing experience is an advantage.
- Some field producing and/or post-producing experience is preferred.
Compensation
As an employer in California, Range Media Partners adheres to the state's pay transparency laws. We believe in fostering an inclusive and equitable work environment, and as such, we are committed to providing transparency regarding compensation. The base salary range for this position is between $100,000 and $125,000 annually, depending on qualifications and experience. The final salary offer will be determined based on a combination of these factors.
