Job Description

Development and assembly of optical sensors for measurement and inspection applications.  


Responsibilities

·        Development and refinement of assembly processes for optical sensors

·        Assembly and testing of prototype and low-volume optical sensors

·        Design of optical systems using sequential and non-sequential ray tracing

·        Review of sensor opto-mechanical and electrical designs to ensure compliance with sensor specifications and

design standards

·        Troubleshooting of optical and electronics sensors

·        Responsible for laser safety reporting and compliance program

Requirements/Qualifications

·        BS/MS in Optics, or Electrical Engineering with an Optics focus

·        Demonstrated hands-on experience with optical components and prototype assembly.

·        Ability to work under magnification with miniature optical parts, mechanical components, wires, and circuitry

·        Working knowledge of geometric optics, GRIN optics, Gaussian beam propagation, mechanical tolerancing, and

optical aberrations

·        Working knowledge of best practices for opto-mechanical design and testing

·        Design experience of lens systems in an engineering environment, using ray tracing optics design software a

plus

·        Ability to read electrical schematics and perform electronic troubleshooting.

·        Highly motivated and self-reliant

·        Works well in a dynamic environment and team player

·        Good written and verbal communication skills
