Proximity Lab is hiring a Principal UX/UI Designer to work as a key senior member of our small but mighty team. In this role, you will work alongside product strategists, researchers and designers to shape products and experiences for some of the most well-known companies in the world.

For this role, strong preference will be given to someone in the New England area for those times where it makes sense to collaborate together in our Portsmouth, NH office.


Who we’re looking for


You love to design and build great digital products within a user-centric design process. You’re particularly passionate about creating novel solutions to complex problems and representing them as strong visual concepts, usable interactions, and beautiful interfaces. You know that UX and UI are inextricably linked and that your work is equal parts strategic problem-solving and visual design with deep consideration for technical implementation. Your love for design means you need to be involved with the work, understanding customer needs, quickly solving complex problems and crafting thoughtful and elegant solutions.


Responsibilities


  • Lead designers, clients and project team members through complex multi-disciplinary projects
  • Leverage research to provide strategic insights that shape effective user experiences
  • Select and utilize appropriate UXD methods such as, but not limited to, heuristic evaluations, content/IA analysis, and collaborative workshops
  • Create UXD artifacts such as, but not limited to, low fidelity screens, wire flows and  journey maps to communicate design concepts
  • Turn low fidelity ideas into high fidelity interfaces and prototypes to communicate design solutions
  • Give presentations that inspire clients and motivate team members
  • Roll up your sleeves to help with research, requirements gathering and UI specifications


Must haves 


  • 10+ years experience creating digital products using user experience, interaction and interface design principles and best practices
  • Proven ability to plan the approach for and lead teams through multidisciplinary projects from discovery to delivery (doing so in an agency setting a plus)
  • Expert-level knowledge of interaction and interface design fundamentals
  • Experience working on complex, data-driven enterprise SAAS applications
  • A proven track record – a strong portfolio with published solutions you can point to
  • Expert-level proficiency with Figma and other industry standard design tools
