Department: Respiratory Therapy

Reports to: Assistant Director/Director of Respiratory Therapy

The Respiratory Therapy Clinical Educator plays a crucial role in providing guidance, leadership, and ensuring the competence of the staff. Responsibilities include assessing educational needs, ensuring yearly competency, and overseeing performance improvement initiatives within the department.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Follows Performance Standards, Policies, and Behaviors
  • Serves as a clinical resource for day-to-day activities
  • Supports Director in overseeing department activities
  • Identifies educational gaps and collaborates on solutions
  • Provides expertise in critical situations involving life support
  • Manages staff competency and education plans
  • Offers educational opportunities to other departments
  • Coordinates orientation for new staff
  • Performs assigned duties efficiently

Requirements:

  • Graduate of an approved Respiratory Therapy program
  • Valid New York State Respiratory Therapy license
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential
  • Current BLS/CPR, NRP, and ACLS certifications
  • Thorough knowledge of respiratory equipment and therapeutic modalities
  • Bachelor's degree in related field
