The Medical Education Specialist plays a pivotal role in orchestrating educational initiatives for healthcare professionals and technology consultants. This position encompasses a diverse range of responsibilities, from conducting hands-on medical education sessions to managing administrative reporting for healthcare providers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Continuously assess and refine the local medical education curriculum to align with the evolving portfolio of Arthrex products and procedures.
- Oversee the development and execution of the medical education curriculum, which includes creating clinical content, establishing training topics, scheduling sessions, and managing all communications necessary for program implementation.
- Facilitate ongoing medical education sessions, both virtually and in-person, to ensure comprehensive training.
- Generate and distribute educational materials to the field, including research summaries, healthcare provider interviews, learning resources, and corporate course information.
- Maintain an in-depth understanding of current and foundational concepts in orthopedics, the product line, and clinical procedures supported by Arthrex products, enabling effective communication and demonstration to representatives and healthcare providers.
- Instruct on fundamental orthopedic concepts, including patho-anatomy, biomechanics, and pathology classifications pertinent to Arthrex products and procedures.
- Demonstrate the safe and effective use of Arthrex products and procedure-specific techniques utilizing Arthrex instruments.
- Prepare representatives for their final training and examination to transition from Technology Associate to Technology Specialist upon completion of the curriculum.
- Coordinate educational events for healthcare providers at both local and corporate levels, including agenda creation and registration processes.
- Manage the organization and execution of cadaver surgical skills workshops.
- Provide input for educational courses and surgical skills lab agendas.
- Engage with representatives and current/new customer accounts on various topics, including the latest techniques, literature, peer-reviewed articles, product updates, and educational programs.
- Ensure compliance with reporting requirements in accordance with applicable regulations.
- Support compliance and ethical standards by maintaining confidentiality, protecting organizational assets, and adhering to relevant laws and company policies.
- Participate in sales meetings, surgical trainings, and professional association meetings as required.
Qualifications:
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills along with strong customer service capabilities.
- Meticulous attention to detail, proofreading, and organizational skills.
- Able to perform detailed tasks accurately and manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously.
Educational Requirements:
A Bachelor’s degree or higher in biomedical sciences or a related field is required. Experience in roles such as athletic trainer, physician assistant, surgical scrub tech, or nurse practitioner is advantageous. Familiarity with the orthopedic industry is also beneficial.
Travel and Flexibility:
Willingness to travel for industry trainings and meetings as needed, with regular travel within the designated territory. Flexibility in scheduling is essential, including the possibility of occasional weekend commitments.
